October 9, 201114 yr hi all on the last bult i bought had a alloy tank looks in good shape apart from a littal crack in the top it had been filled with fibreglass. would it be ok to have it powerder coated?
October 10, 201114 yr Author you've already asked this question a few days ago..... oh yes i did im sorr guys im gonner just have it sprayed normal the only thing i was worrid about was under the tank on the exhaust side the paint was bubbling just thought powder coating would had stoped this ill ask the body shop is there anougther way
October 10, 201114 yr what ever it is the body shop will remove it, and sand back to the sound metal. Once there is a good base they will paint over that.. so no need to worry

October 11, 201114 yr ok mate nice one thanks The paint was possibly bubbling because fuel was leaking from the tank. Probably worth checking it's fuel-tight before spraying.
October 16, 201114 yr Powder coating is the Herpies of the bike rebuilding world.. I'm never going to put my bike next to yours...
October 17, 201114 yr whys that then??????? Powder coating a gas tank is beyond the good manners I guess. The tank of a bike is well let's call it the face of a nice girl. Hopefully that statement and the one to come will not get me in any trouble).( Only very little make-up can improve the appearance but putty is the opposite.
