December 17, 201213 yr Hi, I have just bought a Beta Techno Dougie Lampkin Replica and am putting a new chain and sprockets on it. Can anyone tell me what is the correct no of links to shorten the new chain to as it it currently far too long. i was going to move the rear wheel forward as far as will go then shorten the chain to suit this. Is that correct? Thanks
December 17, 201213 yr hi you will need a 102 link 520 chain ,subject to you using the standard sprocket sizes cheers shavey.
December 17, 201213 yr Generally you want to run with the shortest wheelbase you can so what you propose is correct. You may even be able to use a half link to get the wheel further forward.

December 18, 201213 yr You should also check that when the suspension compresses that the chain doesn't become to tight, bad for your new chain, worse for your gearbox.
