June 12, 201313 yr Is it better to have a plug cap with 5 ohm resistance or one without, bike is a Cub with PVL ignition.
June 13, 201313 yr Yea, well what did you take off? A few systems seem to prefer a resistor due to the electrics, but for the most, this is for RF noise suppression.
June 13, 201313 yr Author When I built the bike the system came without a plug cap so I used a NGK hard plastic type without a resistor but I was now thinking of fitting a rubber type bit more P65ish so wondered if my earlier choice or no resistor was correct.
June 16, 201313 yr Resistors do 2 things One is RF interference and the other is to produce a spark that is shorter in duration and more intense Resistors are good things
June 18, 201313 yr Normal to use a resistor type plug cap with a CDI ignition - you should use one on your PVL.
June 18, 201313 yr Don't combine a resistor cap with internal resistor plugs. This doubles the resistance and may give problems especially with starting. Plugs with resistors usually have a prominent 'R' in the manufacturers code.
