Sherco Leaking Coolant

Featured Replies

My bike started leaking coolant today from a little hole in the casing just wondering if anyone could shed some light into what is broke so I can get on and fix it the bike is a 2011 250

Here is the hole it defiantly looks like it should be there but don't no what it is

I would say that the seal is gone under the impeller. The weep hole is normally the tell tale sign of the seal gone .

Some early Shercos had the impeller shaft machined from too soft a material and the seal wore grooves, causing leakage as lineaway says. A new, harder shaft was supplied under some warranty applications (I know, I had one, but it was a long time ago, 2001/2 model, I think).

The kit was new seals, bearings and a shaft and it was priced at @ £25, I think, would depend on the age of your bike

I have orded two seals ,bearing, shaft, cluch cover gasket coolant and oil that's me skint this week ha but rather than try and scrimp may aswell sort it out right in the first place

Note the orientation of the seals as they oppose each other. Lube shaft with silecon grease.

Trip to the powerwash is due!
