Ty80 Continually Loses Kickstart Spring Tension

Featured Replies

Works well for a ill while, then the torsion spring seems to unwind & kick starter won't return to the top.

Suggestions?

There has never been a problem with the kick starter other than stripping the splines on the shaft. I would assume you have worn parts or missing a part.

Hi

had similer problems

check that the locating recess in the crankcase for the spring has not worn,i was able to reshape mine with a dremal

if you have the haynes manual page 47 shows the kickstart assembly

part 9 is a small circlip one side is flat this needs to be towards the spring guide, overwise they can fail

is the spring locating properly in the shaft?

can,t think of anything else
