    Early Mkl

Hi all 1 woody thanks for that site although I don't need to date the engine (a no lower than 30) ie 1967/68 You should check out prototypes. And scroll down to Impala trial 1966 And the tank on the 69 supersport imediatly below 2 king scorpian engine number as above the frame is stamped on the right side of the headstock COTA 247 There is no sign of any abrasion to frame in that area or any where else it has a thin coat of black paint,I can find no trace of any other colour 3 sparks 2 thank you for the information on villiers engined bultaco perhaps it should have a separate posting? also any photos ? cheers helm

Hi cleanorbust and woody think the tank was made for the frame, has a cut out in the bottom to fit close around the exhaust , and fits exactly front and back Also it does not look to have been altered in anyway What about the seat unit? this also is very well made out of a single piece of alloy Cheers helm

    Early Mkl

Hi thanks to both ,sold the question is does any one recognise the tank/seat in alloy the tank is similar to the trial 250 but no breather and the shape at the back is not the same the seat To big shine bike. Do not understand your comments Why will it need a strip down?and why do you think I want to make money on it? Cheers

    Early Mkl

Hi any ideas Early mk1 with alloy tank and separate alloy seat unit tank is shaped for a snug fit over the exhaust. Later alloy top yoke Replacement sm plastic mudguards ignore these cheers helm
  7. Hi been running my 247 on a almost daily basis (both sons use it as well) with castrol at 50 to 1 (20cc/ml to 1 litre) for last 10 years without any problems. Having striped the bike for a redo , seeing the amount of tar like residue in the font pipe , I think I'll try 60 to 1 and see how it goes does the ethanol enriched petrol increase the build up? Cheers helm
  8. Hi On the selected Cheers helm drum you need to shim BOTH ends equally
  9. hi have both a 348 and a first model 349(red tank)which is 1979 the forks on the 349 are longer Iuse the 348 forks in it and it is mutch better I have seen fotos in the bernie book of vesty on the 349 in 1979 and he has the forks legs as high in the yokes as possiable shortening the Wheel base also i dont like the air caps and soft springs on the 349 ,again if the springs and caps (with a large spacer) from the 348 and droping the yokes to shorten the fork improves it again, any difference between the swinging arms is marginal and there is plenty of space to elongate the axle slot and shorten the Wheel base cheers helm
  10. Hi had similer problems check that the locating recess in the crankcase for the spring has not worn,i was able to reshape mine with a dremal if you have the haynes manual page 47 shows the kickstart assembly part 9 is a small circlip one side is flat this needs to be towards the spring guide, overwise they can fail is the spring locating properly in the shaft? can,t think of anything else cheersq helm

hi all anyone got a wiring diagram for a 75/50cc twinshock 1981?where does the condensor if fitted go? cheers helm
  15. hi i think the chain tensioner is standard as per the parts book and is the same as on the 348 mine is a french reg 1979 and an early number only difference to a uk bike should be the petrol tank ,mine is plastic, for the uk it should be a cover with a alloy tank underneath, when i read my previous post i have not made it clear?that the chain guard is the one in the picture mounted on the crankcase
