September 9, 20169 yr Hi! So I've just been out getting a bit of practice in and the frame on my friends Sherco 290 2008 decided to snap off where the rear shock attaches. I think it has been hanging on for a while because it just happened whilst riding along. Anyway, now needs to be repaired. I'm assuming it can be welded? If so, will normal wire/gas be ok? Thanks for any help!

September 9, 20169 yr I don't have a Sherco so can't say for sure, but I would be confident a wire gas welder could stich up my wife's Gas Gas frame if that happened to it, so would think one could do yours. A good shop should know for sure.
September 9, 20169 yr Yikes! It does appear to be repairable as it is easily welded. The material is basically SAE 4130 CrMo. Tig welding would be best, and I would fabricate doublers for the top pieces.
September 13, 20169 yr Author Thanks for the replies. Partially stripped the bike down for further inspection and found a number of other cracks...not good! No idea how it's happened, has to have been a previous owner because current rider is a novice. Thanks for the help again
