How long does it normally take for coolant fan  to kick in normally st 300 factory , by pass the fan it works . Took out thermostat  and heated it with small blow torch it’s working ., maybe just me but never seen it come on  . Bike runs sweet  .

No idea what’s up . Boiled the kettle and put the  thermostat in a bowl but no reading ,but worked when I used the mini blow torch . Could it be a dodgy thermostat, 

in boiling water the thermo switch contacts should close at around 90-95 C as I recall. the old ones were marked with the rating.

I have never boiled water, but I got married for that. Location, temp, etc, All have things to do with it ever coming on. In the winter the fan rarely comes on unless you are abusing the clutch. Besides the fan, it is still getting air cooling and water. You would think of asking who you got it from.

Dodgy thermostat was the problem . New one ordered and all working again ,
