I am looking for a section flag marker system to use on hard venues like quarries and loose rock where a wooden stick cannot be used. Anyone any ideas and where such items could be found / made. Needs to be transportable, durable and water resistant.

The spray foam for filling cracks around pipes works pretty well, put some on the back of the card (a little goes a long way) and hold it in place for a few seconds till it stops expanding. To remove you peel it off and if the foam stays rub it off with a stick or hand wire brush.

Last time some pratt decided to paint rocks at one of our venues it took up a lot of time for somebody else to turn all the rocks over.

We've never used them as we make our own & are also concerned about livestock consumption.

We normally have a high powered battery drill with spare battery, and some good masonry bits, and for very long days out, a small generator

We have our pins made at a Wire Works for around 40 cents each (around 15p) and use Surveyors Flagging tape to line the section as it very cheap and strong enough. It also is not too wide to catch too much wind and blow around much. Also Silicon or Blue Tack to stick the splits to rocks. On trees we use a staple gun to fix split markes when required.

Thanks for your thoughts boys. We have been using the York Survey flags quite succesfully mainly by bending bottom of wire and weighting them but they do tend to swivel and move. Keep the ideas coming.
