Aprilia Climber 280 1993 cdi options

Featured Replies

Hi all.  New here and looking for some help finding ignition parts for a older bike.  Its a 1993 Aprilia 280 climber and the young one purchased it with no spark.   I told him to make sure parts were still available before pulling the trigger.  Unfortunately, , most all of the links showing spare parts were zombie ads and looking like I may need to help adapt a workaround for him if we are not able to find a drop in replacement for the CDI.  The original stator coil that powers the CDI  was rotten-open so we rewound it and it is generating good voltage now, the pickup is checking out also but still no spark so a CDI is also looks to be in need of replacement.  Not finding any of the original 4 wire all in one ac cdi- ignition units and wondering if anyone has had experience trying a universal ac cdi 6 wire type (scooter type) with the separate ignition coil for one of these older setups with any luck.  They are listed in multiple places for under $10 so worth the risk in trying it if no one has just to see if it fires up.  Any help welcome on the topic.

Did you ever get your Climber going? Did you find a aftermarket CDI or complete ignition system?
