The needle bearings are exposed on one side only. I did not take note on disassembly. 

Do the bearings roll on the tappet or the backing plate... Thank you in advance.. Jeff

    Search on you tube for jim snell video's. He makes one for the clutch only. For 1995 thru 2001 models. You should be able to see what you are looking for.

    Thank you.. I had watched it previously and it's a bit too grainy to see which way the bearing is facing.  I spoke to his partner Jesse and we came to the conclusion that the metal side goes against the backing plate.
