How Many Clutch Plates In 240 ?

Featured Replies

I have a slipping clutch on my fantic 240 pro and after some mods failed to stop it i have just bought some clutch plates.

In the post came 6 cork and 6 metal plates . One of the cork plates had no teeth on the outer diameter unlike all of the others and not what you would expect.

I only had 5 cork and 5 metal plates in mine when i pulled it apart.

How many cork and how many metal plates should i have in there?.

Whats this strange cork plate with no outer teeth - as i sure as hell dont have one in at the mo ?.

Cheers

The 240 had 2 types of clutch in its time. The first year was produced in lower numbers and the most common the later type took over from the middle of 1983. I think both had the same number and I think this was 5 of each type. I will check 2nite.

Just by the way, I rebuilt a 200 with a mInarelli engine and fitted a new clutch plate set. It was the same number as shown in the fantic exploded diagram and....the clutch slipped like buG&ery!. I checked all the usual stuff and it runs perfectly now using one more steel plate!!

Measure the stack height of the old plate set and compare it with the new, including the extra plate. The difference between old and slipping and new (and extra?) should not be more than 1mm or thereabouts I thinx!

I pulled mine down at the weekend...5 cork and 5 metal. What is the thickness of the new stack?
