Amal pancake air filter is the only one to use in my opinion.
Centre hole type screws straight onto the inlet of your carb, offset type is fastened with a hose clip and requires a screw on bush (Amal part) on to the Amal carb. the adavantage with this is you can rotate the filter to best fit.
Two types of filter element are available paper (chuck it when dirty) & washable gauze which requires spraying with a filter oil.
if at first you have a five, try try & try again, then go home with a big score.

Prefer to use the "D" alloy one but throw the element away and fit a foam one. I have used a Fantic 240 foam cut to size supported by perforated mesh from a car bodyshop. Better flow cost less than £10 for the element. Washable and works great. I prefered this as it looks period and does not put a weight on the end of the carb. However a lot do use the screw on type but if you have rubber mounted your carb as a lot do to alleiviate the problem that cubs seem to suffer of heat transfer and frothing then you dont want the extra weight of the screw on air filter on the carb.

Just me but i have always prefered as large a volume of air reservoir in front of my carbs as possible. Dont like to have an air filter up against the mouth of a carb. I even welded a larger stub onto the airfilter and machined a larger adaptor for the carb out of ally then fitted a 50mm dia hose to connect the carb to the filter to give a stable reservoir for the carb to draw from.

No doubt there will be lots who will decry my idea but works for me.

Well you did ask :banana2:

Hi Vinnied thanks for the e mail. Sorry i havent posted the piccys before but it's been a bit cold and i couldnt be rsed togo out in the shed. Well i'm honest anyway.

Links below. Been used for twelve months now no problems and the motor revs out superb. Even Alan Whitton said the motor was very good along with everybody else who has ridden the bike.

I used a Fantic 240 pro foam cut into a strip as 1. its under £10 2. it's easily available 3. it's a dual foam and works very well.

Anyway hope it's of some help with your filter on your cub. The alloy filter is a std one from Terry Weedy who will be at Malvern this weekend, Miller sells them as well but put his mark up on top, the inlet however was replaced with 2" dia ally tube to improve air flow as i mentioned in my post above.
