Hello

Its that time of year again when all the fields we park in get very wet and differcult to get in or out.

i saw something on the weekend that clamps around your wheel a bit like a snow chain but just had four bars on it looked quite simple to fit.

Does anyone know what this is or has anyone got anything out there they would recommend to use to keep in the van to help me from getting stuck in a feild like this weekend gone NICE!!!!

iv seen these mats you can get. what are they like????

Cheers

Here's an old trick that I've used before (not for highway use)....

if you plan on keeping the van for a while i would invest in a pair of bf goodrich all terrain tyres for the driving wheels .you will not believe how good they are ,like having 4x4 traction honestly . quite pricey but i got 100,000 miles out of my last set

Didnt watch, but did he mention checking if there was enough clearance between the caliper & rim ?

eg (my)406 Peugeot had so little clearance that you could not use stick on wheel balance weights,

During the snowy weather last year we found a couple of strips of shed roofing felt very useful.

I thought those "specialist" magazines were our common bond !

By the way, loved that you tube you sent me :-

Ross, you edited that video and missed out the bit at the end where the fella called for the bull terrier !!

Actually I was watching that and I thought 'what a waste'...the opportunity, not the food. :banana2: ;)

Why? Did the hut have a leak? :rotfl: ....I'm so funny I make myself laugh.

Sorry, I couldn't resist it...how did you use the felt in the snow for traction?

Heavy duty roofing felt has a very abrasive texture. (Try dragging your knuckles across some and see how effectively it removes skin!)
Place a strip under / infront of each driving wheel and hey presto - traction! Or at least better traction than you get from mud and ice. And if you can find some offcuts / leftovers from anyone re-roofing a shed with a leaky roof (mine doesn't leak, thankyou for your concern) it's cheap too. Plus it rolls up neatly for storage. It certainly managed to extricate the delivery driver who got stuck on next door's driveway during the bad weather last year.
