  1. It would be interesting to know, what kind of effect re-mapping does for 4RT performance. Those of you, who have remapped your equipment, could you please give your opinion if its worth it and does it really change dramatically the bike performance? For me this is more or less a low rev power issue as Im over 90 kg and basic 4RT seems to be really lazy to respond to throttle.
  2. So you mean that removing the skidplate and testing it without it could be solution for this problem?
  3. I was driving a week ago and hit the baseplate to a rock edge. The hit wasnt particular hard, more or less something that happens every now and then. After this hit, I have noticed a strange noise like a metallic tinkle. It doesnt occur when in idle, but as the revs increase it is like motor would knock or resonate against something hard. Bike feels normal, engine has power, nothing else has changed but the new noise. I looked today everything I could imagine that could be loose or if there would be for example broken bolt or something but nothing. Tomorrow I will open both sides of the motor, check if there is anything loose and change the fluids. Friend of mine with same bike model drove the bike but didnt hear or find anything to worry about. Anyone had any issues like this when hitting the baseplate hard or for some other reason noises like this?
  4. I believe that between Beta and Montesa there shouldnt be any difference in quality. They are both very high quality bikes. The chassis design are very similar also and this is one of the reasons these two bikes are different compared to tube chassis bikes. On the other hand, Beta 270 2 stroke and Montesa 4 stroke are obviously very different in handling. For club class rider, I dont have any doubt to recommend Montesa 4RT. I have Beta 270 and its just too much for me anyway. I know that many of us just bite the dust and claims that its not causing any problems. But believe me. When you are riding with 200 or 250 Beta, or on the other hand Montesa 4RT, you will immediately realise the difference. Its not the full throttle power that is bothering but the low rev riding ability. It will run away easily and cause you extra program and extra points.

    Rev3 Back Brake

I had the same problem. I simply adjusted the brake pedal so that its a little bit lower than it used to. I had some very interesting moments when my foot touched the pedal in situations where it shouldnt have. Also the pedal can bend when it touches rocks etc. and can also touch chains when bent. When you lower the pedal, it will not touch the chains either. However, when you are a beginner, many things feel uncomfortable and you would love to modify these to suite your better. But, as I and many of us have experienced this, after months of practising, most of the things start to make sense and you learn right position of the right foot and more relaxed riding position in general. As someone already mentioned, its very important that you can strain from the pegs and therefore, standing with your heel isnt the right technique. Just keep riding... future will bring you excellent moments with the most versatile and fun sports there is!
  6. Last weekend we had an competition of 3 rounds x 10 sections. I heard at the pits that during sections, I mean, not standing in line and waiting, but driving, a trials would take as much as 750 calories / hour. In competitions this isnt maybe possible, as you need to wait, drive to next section etc, but it might be quite close when practising. I havent ridden since 20+ years. Started it 3 months ago again and had 1 month "holiday", when I only had a chance to ride 1-2 hours / week. My normal training session starts 4pm and lasts until 7.30 or 8. I do not spend time talking bull**** that much and normally sweat like hell. During this 3 months period (still continuing drinking beer and eating barbecue with sauces) I have in average trained maybe 2-3 times/week for 3 hours/session. Since day one, I have lost 7 kilos, my muscles are in a lot better shape and I do have noticed some new muscles in the beginning that I actually didnt knew I had I have seen some documents that list different sports and calories they take per hour. Aerobics are quite consuming and are close to 900/hour. Compared to this, I do believe that 750 would be very close to truth. And finally. If your goal is to loose fat, your heart rate should be 60-70% of the maximum, not more. I would assume that most of the time, trial is very close to this level, but will for sure many times during practise hour raise much higher. At least for me when I try something stupid and see my life running before my eyes
  7. Hi Thanks for the input! Quite funny thing. I called a trial shop that is selling ZEUS (as I really didnt find anything else and needed to get helmet ASAP). They told me that actually we do have ZEUS but not any at stock. But, they had just began to import NZI. Well.. quite nice. I went to meet them, took a look at carbonfibre model but no size for me... We then browsed trough other sizes and I manage to find a NZI helmet with nice graphics that was very confortable as well. The only thing that I do not like after few days of us using it, is that it doesnt breath that well what I would expect. Sweat consentrates on forhead and as I take it of, a massive amount of sweat drops down. The helmet is competely wet and need thorough drying after each run. But, again this doesnt bother at all when driving so doesnt really matter that much. Anyway, we are talking of a helmet that is 50% cheaper than SHOIE and 100% as cool looking. I have even managed to test it in real life also. Not a scratch after few real bad head to rock collision today. A fallen rotten tree trunk surprised me :-)
  8. Hi After 20 years of non riding, I`m returning to this nice hobby that has given me so much. Things have changed dramatically since my old days and have to admit that I`m not that fit to do this, but hope that this will improve after some weeks riding. I have tried to find open helmet, but the only models that seem to be available here (Finland) are ZEUS and SHOIE. As this is anyway very important part of safety, Im willing to invest some money trying to find out a model that would be safe, light and would have some nice grapchics in it. Could someone recommend a internet website where I could order one. It doesnt matter where it is, as long as it has wide range of choices. Thanks for all!
