Morning all Ive just purchased a newly rebuilt ty250r mono 1985 Guess what she's pinking..ie irregular knock top end at low to medium revs..... it wasn't when I went for test ride, just hunting a bit, but guys at shop said it needed to run ritcher so raised the needle .. to the top..by lowering the circlip to the bottom notch, messed with the mixture screw and tick over..and it seemed to run ok, more responsive Took it for a spin once home and found it knocking (not all the time) Ive since popped the needle back a notch and it kinda improved it .. I wish to put the needle back to centre notch as original and start again... but would like to confirm w…

Hey guys, I’m new here and new to building this 2 stroke Yamaha. My neighbor was moving out and asked me if I was interested in his old bike, it was in pieces and missing a couple parts, but over all it looks like with some time and effort it can be back to running! Plus I’m out of projects right now so what the heck! anyways, I was in the middle of tearing down the engine to clean and rebuild, he already had the cases split and they came off with just hitting them slightly with a mallet. I’ll got the other case completely stripped except for a few bearing, but I’m stuck on taking out the primary drive gear from the crank shaft, just here to ask if there any way…

Hello, I have a '91 Yamaha TY250R "pinky" that I purchased a few years back, it was the bike i learned to ride on when I was 13 and was sold to someone else and I scored it when it came up for sale on kijiji. The bike has suddenly developed an issue, when I put it into gear from nuetral into first gear with the clutch fully engaged the bike lunges forward and immediatly stalls. The bike is idling normally and the last time I rode it, was nearly a year and a half ago I recall this being an issue but I dont recall the clutch being worn out. Does anyone has any ideas of what may be causing this? thanks.

Does someone sell OEM style TY175 handlebars? They are pretty tall and some people call them ape hangers. They also have no cross bar support.

Last ty 175 was 34 years ago. All works to this one carried out by and credit to previous owner.Have tried it out on some local sections and i find it very easy to ride, light, responsive, grippy. A happy returnee to Yamaha. Stuart.

Hi All, I've looked over previous threads and would be grateful for your thoughts. I brought a project and have, hopefully, sorted the engine and now looking at putting it all together. I know I'm not going to be an expert rider by doing so, but I love the Majesty look. Is it worth trying to get a D frame altered? Without waiting for Telford, does anyone know who undertakes such work?

I ride a modern Trials bike and want to get a TY to ride and set up our vintage sections. I found a 175 that has some mods done and looks pretty good. But the owner has a couple 250's that are not as nice. He put the 250 wheels and tires on the 175 because the tires where nice Michelin's and cut a spacer to line things up. This also means that it now has a dished sprocket on it. My questions are things like, are they heavier ? will the dished sprockets get hard to get in the future ? Is this something anybody else has done. I think it is silly he did it. maybe the spokes and rims are better or something else. but should I skip it or not be worried. I know …

Hi everyone, I have a TY 175b , I got the bike a year ago and have rode it all season. It's transmission has been touchy and I have babied it through the year. It is my first one so I didn't know if this was normal or what. This past weekend I was at an Event and headed out to the first section it jumped out of 4th gear into a neutral and I could not get it to go into any gear after that. I pushed it back to the truck and it magically seemed to be working again. I headed back out and it did the same thing again in 2nd gear. I was done at this point and used a spare bike to ride the Event. I am not a very good mechanic and don't know where to start. I will pr…

Hello dear friends, Johnny here in NYC hoping to get some advice from some of you super knowledgeable folk few things if i may.... 1, When i got the bike it had the long trail seat. i recently scored a really nice original seat and pan which i'm super happy about. however, i didn't realize there was such a big gap between the seat and the tank. i think having the old trail seat sit flush with the tank has maybe discolored/chipped it. Q/ what would be the easiest way for a novice to clean that bit up so it looks a little more aesthetically pleasing or would i need to really re do the whole tank? maybe there is a generic yamaha touch up white? ive attac…
