I am starting to restore a 1974 Ossa 250 MAR and wanted to identify the frame. It is nickel plated, has a built in oil reservoir and metering screw for the chain in the s.a and Dzeus fasteners for the side panels and bash plate. There is no tab for a side stand. I cannot find any numbers marked on the frame, have already had the tip that it is unlikely to be a standard Ossa frame, more likely a Whitlock. Are there any other options ?

have bought a repacement gearbox sprocket for my montesa, only problem is it has no keyway like the original has. this one was made by talon ,question is will it work ok just held on the taper, iam concerned it could spin or slip on the shaft and wreck it. anyone tried one cheers guys

Has anyone heard that Sammy Miller is suposed to be offering a new type/brand of brake shoes for Sherpas. Can`t see anything on his web site Apparently these brake shoes are supposed to improve Sherpa braking by heaps, even with the chrome liners

Some time ago a topic (in this forum I think) ended up discussing the last of the real Spanish bikes (before Gas Gas & Sherco) and somebody posted some pics of the last, watercooled, monoshock, Cappra. How do you remove the small allen bolt at the bottom of the fork legs (ie stop it revolving inside?) as i want to strip my forks on my suzuki? thanks in advance!

Im trying to sort a problem weve an ossa engine ive got up and running it starts up ok, and 1st and 2nd select ok and the bike pulls away normally BUT wont shift into 3rd gear! anyone had this problem? the gearlever not bent and the bike selects 1st and 2nd going up and down the box when riding it but no 3rd gear and upwards! HELP!!!

As title suggests, i need help (quite literally) . I have in a moment of madness bought a 1985 Montesa cota 330. Last twinshock Cota i think. Does anyone know if a manual in either english or multi lingo as per 348/349 could be had from somewhere for this elusive model???? Or any other thoughts or comments on the bike.. cheers , S_M.

hello, I'm returniung to trials after retiring 20 years ago at the age of 18 !!. Having spent 20 years racing modern motorcross and enduros its time to return to trials. However the decision has been made to ride twinshocks as these were the bikes I remember, and I have recently switched to classic scrambling and just love the atmosphere that seems to revolve around the older bike fraternity. Having obtained a couple of Montesa 242's one has done next to nothing so will be kept for best, the other has done more work but still tidy. OK. As usual with me a bit complicated but i will try to keep it simple. I've just bought a std TY250 twinshock as a bit of a "project" as if i aint got enough The front forks are pitted so my options are? 1. Have them rechromed. Problem everybody says they are crap forks anyway. 2. Fit a set off a TY250Mono. Have you ever tried to get hold of a set of forks off a TY250mono that arent knackered already? 3. Find and fit a set off something else. Now this i find attractive as there is more chance of finding something than trying to find a set of mono ones. Plus if i can fit a set of 35mm dia ones the fork yokes dont need machining so much unlike with mono TY ones a…

Right the next question! out of my three bikes which would be best suited to road based trials such as sammy miller rounds or LDT'S Etc! kawasaki kt250 (1976) inbetween wheelbase , good seat, poss more comfy on road compared to others yamaha 250 majesty (1980) vibey, short wheelbase! tank range ok without any doubt the best of the rest! suzuki beamish 250 (1979) crap seat! smooth engine! longish wheelbase! nice bike to ride! quite competitive! the reason im posting this is because im thinking of selling the kt250 as its mint so i'd possibly get the best price for it plus its (never yet tried it offroad yet) never really been in the running as a pukka tr…

right im getting a bit confused on what route to enter my majesty 250 in? i done a local trial and entered the red route (middle) and although i cleaned a few sections i also got a fair few 2-3's and 3 sections were almost impossible! this last few may have been down to lack of experirence? on the easy route there was quite a few brand new (modern) bikes being ridden! this got me thinking should i be on the easy route and try a few harder sections? (bearing in mind im on a 27 year old bike with drum brakes etc! etc!) as and when i come across them? this trial was an inter trial with 50/50 routes! the trial wasnt a twinshock/classic one, if your a clubman/sportsman…

I finished my ty resto this week, so here are all the pics of each step (or at the least the ones i took pics of). Here it is how i got it in october last year, somebody had done everything in black, it was all wrong. here it is geting striped down.... next i sent the frame to the sandblasters, all the paint striped off it, then redid the frame in two pack silver, as close as i could get it to the original colour, going off old photos next step was the engine. as anyone whos ever riden at menai will know,menai mud stains! so everything was striped down, paint stiped, etc. The engine ran fine,but after pulling it apart, we found the bore was glazed, so i h…
