I was wondering if any of you guys could point me in the right direction regarding a 78 349 Cota I have. Firstly the front brake is poor, new cables, new shoes but still the lever feels very spongy and will touch the bars. The brake does work but won`t lockup, doesn`t inspire confidence ! Secondly, the front forks have air valves on the top, is this for assisting the damping with air or for letting air out, get different reports from different people. I have never had a Mont before so can`t tell if it is a quirk of the model ?. Thanks

This beauty is the latest addition to my bike collection. It's in Colorado so it will be about a month before I get 'hold of it. Looks like the "infidels" have had there way with it. I just feel lucky it hasn't been converted into a chopper yet. I hope to track down original seat, fenders, one side panel and wwhatever else it needs to get back to it's original glorious state. I must be sick.

A friend of mine bought a well used 348 Cota last year and rode it a couple of times without much pleasure. It was very hard to start and when it did, took time to pump up and go when you turned it on. It sat in his shed 'till last week when I went round to fetch it. He helped me move, so I told him I'd fix it. The bore was like glass and the piston clunked around in it, so I had it bored and put in a new 1st over piston. It started on the third kick after the new parts, and with a little fiddling with the Anal carb it ran very well. so... with my friend's blessing, I decided to give it a go last Sunday at the Blue Mountain trial, here near Vancouver, B.C. I took it ou…

A friend of mine (no really!) has just bought an Ossa Gripper and is wondering whether there is a better carb to use than the standard Amal. Has anyone successfully fitted a Dellorto or anything else to a Gripper (250) and improved the carburation?

In your view, what would you say is the better twin-shock bike to compete on as in :- "a competitive bike", and secondly "for spare parts availability". Gaff.

I was marking a board at the local mid wales trial yesterday and after seeing what must have been a million Gas Gas's come through and couple of guys on twin shocks came through...one was a Ossa with some very trick looking yokes, billet type alloy jobs, looked like the Scorpa ones...all in all a very sweet sounding and good looking bike. The next was a TL125 which again sounded very sweet, that had a very nice alloy tank sprayed blue and silver, both bikes really took my eye!. My point being now I can see why these boys must spend what must be a huge amount of money on old bikes.....there was more folk looking at these bikes than all of the rest put togethor, it was gr…

In responce to the "fuel tank" repair thread, does anybody know of a company in the UK that can repair the lower side panels (Armstrong 320) on my Tank-and-seat unit as they have been worn away and now splitting apart, and respray/paint the whole thing back to it's original colour ? Thanks in advance. Gaff.

I have a pretty nice fiberglass tank that has original paint and matches the...um...patina, shall we say, of the rest of the bike. What I've got is a very minor looking ding on top of the tank, but it weeps fuel. Anybody got any tips for this kind of repair?

Hello again, i've got another question that somone may be able to answer. What oil should i use in the gearbox and how much. Thanks in advance. Glenn

Hi all, just gone to change the oil in my Armstrong 320, referred to the manuel (which is not all that !), which tells me that there is ONE drain plug, on removing the Bash-plate i found that there are TWO plugs/bolts that are identicle to each other, so which one do i remove to drain without the gear-box resorting to sound effects of a "Road Runner" cartoon clock exploding ! ! ! Thanks in advance. Gaff.

just got my ossa 350 gripper back together after the psiton rings yet and a thought struck me, being 1980 would it be better to run it on leaded or unleaded, will it make much if a difference either way, im not bothered about performance, just wondering how running unleaded in an engine that old will affect engine wear. oh yeah, does anyone know what sort of mix i should be running, we ran it on 25:1 but we dont know
