Hello, Im new to trials and recently bought a 1997 Beta Techno 250. I realized later that the lower triple tree clamp was broken. Ive been having trouble locating a replacement part. I tried Beta USA and they found a whole triple tree/fork assembly located in Italy but they wont seperate the forks from the triple tree and want quite a bit of money. I was hoping to find something used or possibly even new at a more budget friendly price point. Can anyone point me to a source to find something like this? Parts for these older Betas seem to be getting rare and trials is not very popular here in the US. Im interested in finding out if some other triple clamps might fit my bik…

Looking at picking up a trials bike for some fun and value any input I can get. I can get either a '97 Beta Techno 250 or '99 Scorpa Easy 250 both in very good shape for around USD$1100. Tried a couple of vintage competitions on a TY350 and Bul Sherpa 350 and quite frankly I am just plain awful at trials but it was a lot of fun. Was told it's somewhat easier to learn on a more modern bike and would enjoy it more. 50yr old mx'er into vintage mx these days, thanks to all.

This is more like a short story than a question. so please bear with me. 99 Scorpa Easy Paioli left hand fork leg, in the bottom of the leg i have a damper rod about 200mm long. Basicly this is a tube with a washer fixed to the top, under the top is the top-out spring, inside the bottom of the spring is a stepped washer - more like a spacer on a rear wheel - fitting tight inside the spring. The outer diameter is the same as the spring outer diameter. Below that is a normal washer and then a circlip in a groove that holds all the bits tight to the top of the rod. Hi guys Well finished my 4th trial this last sunday.....barely. we were told it was going to be a easy event so my pops entered with me. That was short lived as we came up to section 1. It was one of those WTF moments. A 70/80 m viscous rock climb. Anyway, long story short, 2nd gear bombing it up this mountain and the bike dies on me half way up......game over. Got the bike started and completed the lap just. Changed plug before second lap so bike ran well but by that stage it was all over. Performed a spectacular superman rock biter down a rock face on lap 2 and it went downhill from there. I was just not on form no matter how hard I tried that day. I 5ed easy sections …

I've seen more and more trials bikes out on TRF rides ..... It's a lot more fun on a trials bike but you must be fully road legal and join join your local TRF (cheap). Get out with the enduro boys on the green lanes and you'll find lots of nice 'sections' on the way. It's not ideal on the flat, you'll have to get her in top and give her some yahooo to keep up with the pack .............. but when you come to a (simple) climb you will see your enduro clad freinds looking for 'ways to go around' .... not to mention woods, streams and rocks Just do it while you can cos yet again your government does not want this body to continue ... , you'll have a good day out and probal…

The first idea is old since my dad did this on his 1978 TY 175 over 12 years ago. The floating rear fender. The rear fender is like the front fender with low clearance from the tire. This enables more body english without the fender getting in the way. My dad had the fender hinged on the frame and swingarm. The rear muffler might have to hinge also. The second idea is another set of footpegs on the swingarm. This would work well with the floating rear fender. Let's say your going uphill and need more traction. You move your feet to the rear pegs so all of your weight is on the rear tire.

i hav a scorpa 1996 250, its a very clean bike with no faults as far as i no (ive only just got it) i used to ride motocross bikes and i had a to change my top end a lot, is this the case with trials bikes and if so how often, and how often should i change my gear oil and whats the best oil to run it on? and wats mix should i run it on? last question when the crosser used to get hot i had to let it cool right down then it was good to run again so the top end didunt go. do i have to keep an eye on the temp of the scorpa any help would be great, thanxs matt

A female friend of mine is interested in starting to ride trials. She is very wee though, 4'11" and 6.5/7 stone. She's a good rider but finds my 315r physically too big for her. I've suggested something like a Beta or Gasser 80 would suit her. Your opinions please

I've decided to start riding trials again after a three year break, I road a 2005 GasGas 250 for a few years at very much beginner level. I have the opportunity to buy a very well looked after 2006 Beta 200 my only concern is that it may be a little underpowered for me, while I will still be riding as a novice I am 6' and 15 1/2 stone, is the 200 going to have enough mojo to pull me along? Hey Guys: After riding Ishy's little Scorpa 4 banger a week ago, I got to thinking about how impressed I was with it! What a fun little bike. It also made me think that for once it would be cool to have a displacement class (125) or, some sort of a IROC serie's format at the Nationals or in some of the regional serie's. A class where everyone is riding the same displacement of bike. Obviously at this point, Scorpa would have the 4s 125 market cornered, but if some of the other manufacturers got into making affordable entry level 4s bikes that would be competitive also, would sure make for some good fun, and open up a whole new market for people who want to ride and compe…

That is the information. RFEM in the anual meeting last Friday 11th. December, decided to introduce openfree fules in the Spanish Championships. They will also allow this rules in any other particular trial that decides to use it. In my opinion a new sport has just born in Spain. Good luck!!!!

Hello everyone, I am not a trial rider at all, I only enjoy watching the sport. I just have a short question I've been wondering about. Is there a video on Youtube for example, that shows how a trial section is being built? Because sometimes watching those constructions, it makes me wonder how the whole thing stays upright so sturdy. Sometimes it's obvious if it's a cement block or something, but for some very tall and relatively thin constructions, it seems like it should be fairly easy to knock down when "slamming into it" with a bike. So I'm wondering if there is a video where someone shows the process of building it, maybe talking about it as well. Thanks …

I was watching some of the world round videos on Youtube today. I'd not seen any modern trials at that level before and "impressive" doesn't begin to describe the riding ability of those guys. However, I thought minders were supposed to be there to catch someone before they fell off something and injured themselves. It looked like trials has become a team sport, with the minder right next to the rider in a section, and it seemed like he was busy giving instructions to the rider on wheel placement and lines. This seems very odd to me. I could see getting advice from someone before riding a section. I'm certainly glad to get good advice on lines and technique. But wh…
