General Trials Talk

So I am thinking of picking up a Keihin carb for my Sherco and decided I wanted to be cool like the red Dellorto guys. I'd like to paint it blue while it is still perfectly clean. How can I do this? I was thinking powder coat because regular paint would be stripped by carb cleaner and gas.

Whilst rebuilding a 1956 Greeves, I've noticed that even though both front and rear wheels are lined up (i.e. for the MOT) the front one appears to be to one side when viewed whilst sitting astride the bike, and when measured it's about 1/2" closer to the right fork than the left. Has anyone knowledge of this with a Greeves or indeed any other model? Can it be normal? Many thanks, David

Well first time on a trials bike went well. I went to Warden Law , got there about 9.15 & had the whole trials area to myself until about 11.00. All in all a can't day and I never fell off . Thinking of joining a trials club now, I've got the bug.

In the days leading up to the EU Referendum I noticed quite a few comments on Facebook from trials riders indicating which way they'd vote. Interestingly there seemed to be massive support for Brexit. This I found surprising as it contradicted predictions of a win for the Remainers. Anyway, now that the voting's over and we're all trying to come to terms with the devastating implications of a Brexit win, how will British trials be affected? I've long been curious what the differences are relative to bike set-up for the Scott vs. a "regular" trials event? Is additional fuel carried? Is suspension set-up different (stiffer)? What tire pressures (due to the higher speeds) on the route? Tools carried etc... Just intrigued by the unique requirements of such an event and how the riders prepare their bikes. The bike in the avatar, my overachieving '72 123 Cota has still got it's original piston and bore. I know it's original because the bike was near new when I bought it. I rebuilt everything in the cases, except the piston, bore and crank, it was all in spec and looked good. That was 4 seasons ago and it still pulls like day one. Can anyone beat that?

Hi everyone looking for some advice .. So I wanted to get my son started in trials , He is 12 in Jan and is only around 4'6 (138cm ) roughly ... He is a bit small for his age I guess , reasonably strong and fit very active.. Anyway , wanted to get him riding , so the other day I saw a beta 80cc big wheel bike , which when I looked at it looked like it would be the right size for him with plenty of growing room .. well today I took him out with it , and the bike seems really big for him , he isn't able to start it yet , some because of lack of technique and some because the bike is big .. we pottered about for an hour or so, with me by his side , …

after reading an article on the tc forum about greasing the linkages in gasgas swingarms i have built up the confidence to have a go. although what grease should i use? is there a special sort? and where can i get a diagram of the swingarm exploded? thanks alot NED1.

Hi I am new to Ossa and would appreciate some help with the identification of my bike, cc, model and year of manufacture I originally believed the bike to be a Mick Andrews replica 250cc approximately 1975. I have looked on Ossa frame and engine number lists and cannot find this one, the frame number is B430092 and engine number M430092. The front caliper on my '21 TRS has an annoying tendency to drag constantly and I can't seem to fix it. Couple of days ago on a long steep descent it overheated so badly I completely lost front brake. It wasn't from over use of the brake, it's a hill I've been riding a couple of times a week for quite a few years on a variety of bikes. I am very careful how I use the brakes and it's not a problem. But this time the brake was dragging really quite hard - it would start to skid a little on flat, loose dirt with no brake applied.
