General Trials Talk

General discussion on the sport of Observed Motorcycle Trials

  1. Started by trapezeartist,

The chain is probably the most ill-treated part of a trials bike. We dose it with mud, dust and water and put sudden shock loads through it, and most of the time it serves us faithfully and well. I have my own system for cleaning and lubrication but I wonder what other people do. My procedure goes as follows: After washing the bike I give the chain a spray of WD40 before putting it away. Unless the chain is looking unusually clean, I take it off and wash it in paraffin, brushing thoroughly and then hand it up to drip. After 24 hours + I refit the chain. On completion of the bike's general maintenance I spray the chain with chain lube. I'm using Mu…

Im looking at changing my Hebo Zone for a Airoh Rock ( http://www.bikersdirect.co.uk/Airoh-Rock-N...lmet_A9QE1.aspx ). im actually a size S/M in my road helmets and found my hebo size "M" to be a bit too big, so im wondering whether to switch down a side to a "S" in the airoh, does anyone know how the two companies sizing compares? I heared that Hebo's are oversized a little bit, so maybe a "M" Airoh would fit nicely? I know the best way to find out is to try some on but I dont know anywhere that i can travel to to find out. just looking for opinions/advice, any advice will not be thrown back in your face if it all go's to pot! All the best Tom

Hi, Friend bought a new Montesa 4rt but third time out he drowned it in a river, we got the water out of the air box, exhuast and barrel and thought it would be best to get the bike going and warmed up to get rid of any water left in it (dont know if this was the right thing to do). Surprised how quick we got it going but noticed a light knocking sound, also seemed to lack top end power. My friend is skint after buying the bike so are trying to find out what the problem might be and how much it will cost. Has anyone got any ideas, one guy told us it may have bent the valves through water compression but I thought it wouldnt run at all if that had happened. Any ideas much …

A couple of very interesting perspectives in todays TMX, concerning land access in regard to off road sport..........looking at the both points of view, would it not be far more positive to set aside the petty back biting and bickering, and for everyone to work together to further the future of the sport through the purchase of suitable land?

I was riding yesterday and due to large entry and some of the expert sections, I found we were sat it queues for 5 -10minutes at 4 sections on each lap. Now I dont mind sitting there as it gives a chance to meet a few other competitors. The thing that really got me was most people left there engines running and (especially the youths) held them at full throttle "to clean them out" I think some rule should be in position where only up to the third in line can have the engine running. (unless it was hard to push to the start) What do you think?

Hi All, I just had to throw this point into and open discussion ... just for a laugh I was amused with a comment in an advertisement (on Trials Australia) for the Melbourne Motorcycle Show last week. It it suggested (in jest) that motorbike owners may not be interested in going to a SEXPO next door to the show. But on the flip-side my wife once read (in one of her women's magazines) that men will often turn to activities like motorcycle sports when they are not getting enough "activity" at home (if you know what I mean). So just for a laugh I'd thought I'd mix these points up and throw them open to discussion? .... Would motorbike riders go to the Sexpo regardless of…

After washing the bike (2015 evo factory) at the weekend, 3 decals have come off... wouldnt be so bad if you could order them individually (which you can with the standard apparantly) but you cant... so rather than buy a whole new kit which would be expensive for the sake of 3 decals... does anyone one how to clean them up (the sticky side)... and then what would be the best adhesive or tape or whatever to stick them back on...reluctant to buy a new decal kit after washing the bike about 12 times!!!! any help appreciated.

  13. So heres a weird one for you all, I ride trials on my Gas Gas TXT Pro 200, but only one of the guys I ride with is on a trials bike (Sherco 125) We have both started riding some enduro and singletrack with some other guys we know who are on enduro and motocross bikes. Our bikes are coping fine with the terrain and we are both really enjoying it, but I have to say, after a few hours (and refuels lol) im getting sore from standing, it would be nice to have a removable seat so I can still compete in trials, yet be able to do some light trail riding on the side. Is there anything that would cover this? or will I have to make something. I have seen the Jitsie seat but it …

Went for a practice for couple of hours today and now have really sore / achy knees. First time on bike since October (I’d guess) so am assuming this is a combination of total lack of riding - 2 evening trials in 2018 and 2/3 of a centre champ round before torn calf muscle stopped play - and age combining as a double whammy to tag team me in the knees. Will ice knees tonight and hopefully cure Any remedies to help this for future reference? Or should I just not ride at all and avoid the knee issues ???

Hi, I have done a search for this but had no success, The front wheel on my rev3 has a little buckle in it ( about 3 mm either way ), The buckle isn't massive though and I realise that if I start to try and straighten it then it could take ages. Is it worth trying to fix or should I just forget about it, will it get worse? The wheel isn't egged so it is straightenable. If I should fix it then any tips? It is terrible when you are cleaning your bike that you keep finding little problems like this isn't it. cheers Bob

Instead of thinking isn't Raga's Christmas message nice I am left thinking he looks a right tool dressed up as a King. I think the double winning of the indoor and outdoor WTC has gone to his head. Any ideas for what he will be dressed as on next years card? The widow tw**ky or Dick Whittington perhaps. Rumour has it he is appearing with the Krankies in Christmas Panto. :santawink:
