Hi! Re Edinburgh St. Georges Motorcycle club, I think my Father was a member. His Name was A.M.L.Mclean, better known as Laurie McLean, and he was fairly active in the club in the 50's and 60's. He won a lot of stuff, and competed regularly in the SSDT. I wondered if any older members knew of him or the club? He was born and bred in Haddington, but moved to England in the 70's. He still competed in the SSDT till mid 70's, on a Montesa I think. I have a nice old pic of him on a Royal Enfield. Think it was about 1956, SSDT.Just doing a bit of Ancestry stuff. Cheers Calum Maclean

Hi folks, Picked up a 2000 Sherco 290 this evening for a very fair price. I have a Husaberg FE550 for green laning and light enduro, but now it's time to actually learn some skills! The Sherco runs reasonably well but has a couple of things that need addressing. One thing I'm wondering about is the revs hanging when I blip the throttle. There's so much conflicting advice online about this but the general consensus seems to be that it indicates a lean condition. I assume this means a lean air/fuel mixture, rather than a lean oil/petrol mixture? I'm new to 2 strokes With a bit of luck this can be addressed with the carb, and doesn't mean I've got leaky crank seal…

Hello all, My name is Phil, I'm a 44 year old self employed builder, I live close to the NEC in Brum. Trials has always been on my bucket list of stuff to try so I had a little go on the trials experience thingy at the NEC bike show, so this year I grabbed the bull by the horns and at the end of January I purchased a 2007 scorpa sy250. I've rode it virtually every weekend at a quarry and have been practicing getting over logs, slow control, wheelies etc. I've got a days training booked with Stu Day on the 7th of March too. I also run a 2013 ktm 450 EXC and a 2012 Triumph Explorer. That's it for now. Phil

Hi guys (& gals?) I'm new here and Jeez, I'm getting old... I did a lot of club trials and we used to go to the SSDT regularly in the mid 70's as a spectator. (Bultaco Frontera 370 Enduro.) Continued biking ever since and I'm about to start Classic trialing again. (57!) I live in Mallorca so it's gonna be a Montesa or a Bulto or an Ossa. Trials is big here if on the dry side! No streams & no rivers except when it rains. Then we get torrents that would wash away Ewan McGregor complete with GS. But there's loads of enduro & off-roading except in July/August and then the cops chase the young 'uns coz they'll start forest fires. (The cops have KTMs.) I'm goi…

Hey all, Greying beard, rode lots of dirt bikes and some motocross over the years, not a pro by any means, just riding for fun. Always wanted to ride trials... Been reading this forum for a while trying to gain some knowledge about purchasing a used trials bike. Being in Canada, trials bikes are few and far between, and I didn't want to spend too much to get into trials at this point. I finally found an older Beta Rev3 250, 2001 for a low enough price, it was probably more used for trail riding before though but seems in reasonable condition otherwise. While I have numerous questions...lol... I will reserve those for future posts and use…

Hi All I have just bought a Scorpa 250 SY I was told it was an 06. Does anyone know how to interpret the frame number? Or know of any other distinguishing features? It has a grey frame, silver wheels, snail type chain tensioner, linkless swingarm, paiolla forks with preload and extension adjustment on the top. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello, After being a rookie on a DRZ400 for close to a year, I picked up a 2004 GasGas TXT 300 Pro (for a good price) in the hope it will help my riding. I've always had an interest in them, but I didn't take the leap till one of my regular riding partners picked up a 96 Beta 250. Then after I bought mine, another friend bought a 2003 Scorpa 250. Now the three of us have to figure out how to ride them. Hopefully I survive it. Anyway, I've got a few questions about the sport, techniques, etc... which is why I've come on here. Hopefully I can learn something. Thanks in advance.

I live in mid-michigan, 2001 montesa and I are looking for places and people to ride with. It seems the semi local meets never fit into my schedule ,though I did one and it was fun. Need others to learn from and push me. Been riding alone for my first two years at this.

Well, I've got a bike, a lid, boots and transport. My first ever trial is 3 weeks away close to home at Aughertree (Uldale). Apart from not forgetting the above items and fuel, are there any essentials/ tips that the good people of trials central can offer/ take the p*** as appropriate?

Hi to all, I am Mustafa from Istanbul Turkey. Literally there is no trials riding here so I had to look abroad. I've been riding different types of bikes for ten years. Last bike was a motocross (before stolen) but I actually didn't like the idea of speeding in dirt or forest. While motocrossing, I was more into observing the terrain or going slow through stuff. So after the theft of my bike I asked myself why not a trials bike this time. I never had the chance to try one, and there are only two bikes on the sales list (yes entire country) which are not even in my city. So in these circumstances I have three choices; 1-gas gas txt pro250 (cylinder head changed to 300 with…

Hi everyone, my name is Karrie and I live near Pontefract. Only very recently got into trials, went out to Bumpy's for the first time yesterday and absolutely loved it. I am hoping to make some friends as I don't know/have anyone to ride with. I'm a complete novice to be honest, I know how to ride a bike and that's about it. I think my other half will soon get fed up of babysitting me when I'm out on it! So anyway, hi

Hi Guys, Been signed up for over a year but not made a post, so thought I should say hi. I have just taken delivery of a Montesa 4RT, not new, but good enough for me to get back into the sport. I previously owned another Montesa, a 315R and used to compete in local clubman trials. Something I plan to do again with my new to me 4RT.

Hi all! I am debating on whether I will start riding trials or not, but I do have a 1974 KT250 that I'm wanting to get back into tip-top riding condition, whether I compete or not. This thing has been family owned since new. My great-uncle bought it in 1974 and sold it to my grandfather (his brother) in 1999, who brought it back to life for me. I am not a mechanic, but I'm excited to start on this fairly simple motor. My goal is to have this in excellent riding condition. Right now I've got to clean the carb and gas tank. Oh, and change the oils. That should get it running, but then the fun starts. I will probably rebuild the top end (not sure if its ever…

Hi guys, I'm new to trial but I already found this forums very useful. I usually ride supermoto/enduro. I am about to buy Beta Evo 2.9 2t as my first bike. What should I check before buying this bike? What would be the first mods I need to do? Any protection for the bike etc? Any advice for a beginner would be much appreciated Cheers, Mike

Hello Just joined and just bought a gas gas 125. I am 54 and a complete beginner to trials biking. Does anyone know of a club locally to me? While i have been looking at some you tube vids on technique does anyone know anyone in the area that might do some formal or one-off skills tutoring. Any help appreciated. Cheers everyone.
