Hi! Re Edinburgh St. Georges Motorcycle club, I think my Father was a member. His Name was A.M.L.Mclean, better known as Laurie McLean, and he was fairly active in the club in the 50's and 60's. He won a lot of stuff, and competed regularly in the SSDT. I wondered if any older members knew of him or the club? He was born and bred in Haddington, but moved to England in the 70's. He still competed in the SSDT till mid 70's, on a Montesa I think. I have a nice old pic of him on a Royal Enfield. Think it was about 1956, SSDT.Just doing a bit of Ancestry stuff. hi all before its to late I thought I have a bash at trials again , I intended to enter the twin shocks but feel it would be best to enter the veterans on a more modern bike so I found a good 300rr so just need to get a bit of practice and get a bit fitter . Something I noticed quite quickly was there is nothing to grab hold of to lift the rear when you are off half way up a slippery slope etc anyone have better idea then my leather stap over the seat area?

hi guys, Absolute newbie to trials, always fancied a wee go, last night i bought a Gas Gas jtx 270, 1997 for the pricely sum of £870, bike seems pretty clean, 1 owner from new ! i have the bike, but no knowledge of the bikes or the sport, i was wondering if there are any trials riders in the falkirk area, who would be willing to collect me and my bike and give me some guidance in the sport ! im 49 by the way, so maybe not my best idea ever !!! names Gordon

Hi all, has anyone renewed the ACU Trials Registration via the sport 80 website for 2023? Is that just one licence for solo/sidecar driver/passenger in 2023? many thanks,René

Not a lot of organized trials riding close to home town here in the west coast of Washington state, USA. Nice area though for off road trail riding and a lot of it is fun and technical enough for a trials machine. Several years ago I tried to interest the local riding fellows I ride with into getting trials motorcycles but no one was interested and I got a Sherco X-ride. Later a member of our group got a beat up Yamaha TY250, which lead to a later year Montesa 4RT, and others have bought trials motorcycles and are really into how neat trials riding is. Hi all looking to purchase my first bike, have experience of motor cycling on road and some basic off road, looking at a sherco 300 factory (yes i know dont need 300) but its local and looks in good order. Question the bike is 2014, its had a new piston and some other stuff done. should i be worried its had this done?? its does look a very tidy bike (in the pics) advice please cheers

Hi I went to have a look at a 250 Sherco yesterday. The bike ran fine and was clean enough although when put into gear the clutch was siezed. It only took 30 seconds or so of riding to free itself although the bike had been riden earlier that day. I was just wondering if this is a common Sherco fault and should I steer clear of it. Once free the bike ran ok. Thanks for any help you can offer.

hello all. I have had my trials bike about 3 years now but have so far only been riding at my parents farm and recently i have been thinking about starting to do a few trials. i was just after some advide about the best way to go about it. from reading posts on here it appears i need to get a licence for the year and also do i need to join a club and if i do join a club can i only do trials organised by that club? I am in the south cumbria area also quite close to the yorkshire dales and north lancashire area. any advice would be much appreciated, i know there are some very helpfull people on here as i have been using the gas gas forum for quite some time. thanks.

Hi all, As the title says, been reading the forums for a bit and finally decided to book myself onto a trials experience day later this month. Been a road rider in the Uk for years and after a brief midlife enduro crisis a few years ago :-D I think... maybe I'm better suited to Trials, really want to do more with my weekends that's bike related and off road but suitable for a 50 something kid !! Anyway... I guess I'll know if it's for me in a couple of weeks ! No doubt there will be lots of questions and archive browsing..... ? Thanks Crispy

Hello Everyone. I just wanted to take a moment to say hello and introduce myself. After years, well decades really, of wanting to learn some of the skills required for trials, I recently went and purchased a very well used and possibly worn out trials bike. My knowledge base when it comes to this type of riding and the bikes themselves would not even cover the bottom of a thimble, but I'm eager to learn. The bike I picked up, as I said is a very well worn 2001 GG txt 250. Being 15 years old and having suffered a bit of neglect, there are some items that need repair and replacement but it's coming along. For myself, I'm not in much better shape I'm sad to say! …

Hello fellas, I have been lurking around here for a few weeks whilst I made the transition from Moto Cr*ss to trials. I have found the info and advice here Fantastic. The Moto Cr*ss bike is sold,and yesterday I bought an 06 sherco 250. I hope to be taking part in trials competitions in a few weeks after setting up and getting to know my bike. New to trials and new to the forum. Just picked up a Montesa 315 99-00 modei that has been stood for a couple of years and hope to have it fettled by the end of the week.

It's been a while since I've rode anything on two wheels but a couple of friends have stirred up the feelings again. Though the plan is to go trail riding, I've been looking to try out trials. Hopefully with some avid weekend riding and a new diet/workout, I can regain some of my old form... it's hard to stay in shape behind a desk, lol. I'll be posting questions here and there and would appreciate any input you seasoned riders could offer an old dog looking to learn some new tricks. Kawika

Broke my back pretty badly, sold my GasGas thinking I’d never ride again…well guess what!? I’m back (pun intended). i sucked on my GasGas and I’ll prolly suck worse on my new to me (but exceptionally clean, still has the original tires) ‘13 250 Evo Factory with my new back issues….. I want to focus on my balance and control precision and hopefully get a little stronger in the process. 53 years young….owned a **** ton (almost 75) of different bikes over 43 years of riding and racing, but never good enough to be top at anything. Newbie here with a 2017 Gas Gas TXT 250. Clutch line leaked out on my ride today 😩 reservoir dry. had to ride back few miles with no clutch. just ordered a new line but how do I change it out? any help please Mahalo in advance!!!🤙

Hi All, recently bought from Spain a 213 Alpina. It is complete with toolbox, lights, etc... Good looking but needs attention. Exhaust was completely empty with metal bit moving inside, front tyre cracked, front spokes loose and seized, and speedo ring eaten up. I am in the process of fixing all that. Hiya been a member a while but not had a bike till today got a '99 txt 270 and loving it its not bad for the age, plently of compression, needs a good jump to kick it over, only issue with it is the brakes the back was squeeking all the time unless i tapped the lever, and they're both pretty poor in power, i was exspecting quite sharp? more like my ktm. so i stripped the rear caliper, and removed one piston but couldnt get the other out, and it was only just moving, either way i popped it back on the bike and spent ages bleeding it after a loss in consentraition ment i sucked some air in. finally after cracking the MC banjo a couple times and bled it regular, as i cou…
