The Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT) is special in so many ways, and one such part of the event that makes it unique is the diversity of the competitors who take part each year. Indeed, the SSDT is famous for being that one trial of the year that enables amateur riders from around the globe to compete alongside, and to complete the same challenging course, as their professional heroes.

With a good clean day, seems Dougie has surpassed Baldilocks today, while Baldi(Glenn Quinn) still holds a marginal lead over Carlos Casas! Good job man! Seems Ishy is riding just a bit behind the lasses, Emma, Becky, and Katy, typical! P.A. is guarding the rear, yet had a much better day today! The kids, Browny, Alexz, Jack and such , are just HOT Stuff!

Having celebrated his 17th birthday only last month, Joshua Atkinson from Dronfield, Derbyshire (near Sheffield) is the youngest rider competing in the 2012 Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT). This week Josh wears number '152' and sits just outside the top 250 after a tough opening day on his trusty 2011 Gas Gas 125cc machine. The college student is one of four riders representing Sheffield and Hallamshire Motor Club. Speaking at the beginning of the week, Josh told of how excited he was to be making his SSDT debut.

With the Royal wedding having been and gone, World attention has now shifted to the loch-side town of Fort William, which will be the base for the famous Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT) that will celebrate its centenary when the actual competition gets underway early tomorrow morning. For one hundred years motorcyclists have made the pilgrimage to the Highlands to take part in what remains a unique event and one that still duly tests man and machine to the limit. Glorious sunshine created the fitting backdrop for the competitors to make their last minute preparations in order to be ready to be part of this historic occasion.

Day 5 has been rough on Baldilocks, falling back a bit from Becky, and with Emma on his heels! Must make up a few points tomorrow, or he will be a girl sandwich! Looks like Jack is out! Come on Dougie! These kids are just too much! Even Jamie is doing well!

Both Alexz Wigg (Gas Gas) and Sam Connor (Beta) went unpenalised today to become joint leaders of the 2013 Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT) after the first two days of competition. Enjoying the warmer and drier weather Wigg and Connor, who are both previous SSDT winners from 2010 and 2005 respectively, made light work of the new route that incorporated several new and testing sections. Yesterday's initial leader Michael Brown (Gas Gas) lost three marks today after having gone clean on day one. Carlos has pulled away from Baldilocks, and Baldi has let Becky Cook get a slight advantage with only one point separating them. The mudwrestling competition between them awaits! Ishy is still lagging behind the rest of the girls, sniffing the perfume! Beer is good with the ibuprophen! Seems young Jack Challoner had a bad day, putting him out of the points race, while Vasey and P.A. have retired. Hope they are ok!

Brown's lead is a slender one, with him holding a single mark advantage over his team mate Dougie Lampkin - Gas Gas who dropped three marks today. Lampkin failed to find the right line in the final section at Creag Lundie and knows he will have to work extra hard if he is to record a record breaking sixth win come the end of the week.

It was with great regret that the decision had to be taken to cancel the second day of the Pre'65 Scottish due to the severe weather conditions experienced in the Kinlochleven area. It had proved impossible to lay out a route with rideable sections for the second day due to the amount of water on the course. The volume of rain that fell continually on Thursday and Friday resulted in the majority of sections being raging torrents, with feet instead of the normal inches of water in them!

It is not the first time that the Gomez family name has appeared on the Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT) results sheets, but 2013 does mark a SSDT debut for Sandra Gomez (Gas Gas). By carrying the riding number one hundred and five, the twenty-year old Spanish female rider is emulating her brother Alfredo who also competed in this unique competition back in 2011. The Gomez family have a real trials pedigree with Alfredo having clinched the 2011 FIM Junior Trial World Championship whilst Sandra placed third in the Women's World Trial rankings last year. For the next six days the loch-side town of Fort William and the surrounding Lochaber region in the Scottish Highlands, will play host to the famous Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT). The SSDT is by far the world's longest running international motorcycle trial event and 2012 sees it enter its second century. Today, on the eve of the first day of the trial, riders have been busy making last minute preparations for the challenging six days ahead.

With the memory of narrowly missing out on winning last year's Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT) still raw in his mind, James Dabill (Beta) is eager to exact revenge on 2012 winner Dougie Lampkin and his other rivals as he heads out on the first day of this year's event.
