Anybody know of availability of spline kickstart shaft for Triumph Cub, cotter pin type in bike already

They come up on eBay every so often, but I tracked one down via these guys: http://www.tigercubspares.co.uk/

They do all the mainland autojumbles and will look out for parts that are hard to find for you. Might charge you a few pennies though.

I too am having difficulty obtaining a Cub splined kickstart assembly but lots of people seem to have fitted a Gas Gas kickstart to their Cubs, how do they get them to fit, does it need,

the Cub kickstart shaft splines (assuming you have one in the first place) altering to suit the GG lever

the GG lever altering to suit the Cub splines

is there another way ?

Why not just stay with the cotter pin type all the bits are readily available and this system is used on many other bikes & has been used to propel thousands of bicycles along for years.

Does anyone know how to fit the GG lever to a Cub.

To fit Gas Gas kickstart:-

The flat on kickstart shaft that takes normal cotter pin needs to be groung back carefully with a hand grinder so the flat now comes right to the end of the shaft, now ream out the steel swivel of the Gas Gas kickstart so its a nice fit on shaft then from a piece of round bar cut a d shaped piece that fits the d shapes space that remains when you have fitted the kick start swivel on to the now reground kickstart shaft, make sure you have it positioned in the right place and then weld this new d shaped piece in place in the kickstart swivel.

Now a bit of pub, we make half hard ali kickstarts for cubs along with our new

wide ali forged footrest/ali mounting brakets that take ali brake lever and ali chain tensioner.....

PS, What is best is to use a dummy kickstart shaft in a vice, to be sure you've got it all set up/dimensionaly correct and it can then be checked at itervals so your not making a cock up.....Gas Gas kickstarts are not cheap and all this work while not complicated needs to be done well/acurately.......

Presume the GasGas kick start boss is made from steel with a pinch bolt fastening but is it from a specific model or year.

Would it be possible to have some photos of the conversion.
