Fill it with fuel and ride it, HONDA build quality, Say no more,Also for mine i have the seat/tank unit so if i want to do a trail ride,or a 3 stage trial i can sit down, and also have an extra 2 litres of fuel on board, and because its PGM-FI you can remap the throttle body/ecu as many times as you like with what ever maps you want, very mild to VERY wild
i have even done some enduros with mine with some good results,
Just curious about castrols recommended 2 stroke oil for the 250 Evo,
There first recommendation is Power 1 scooter, they say that scooters do a lot of stop/start and the oil is very good for this type of riding (Trials) and has excellent non exhaust clogging properties,
There alternative recommendation is Power 1 Racing
Just wondered if anyone has used the scooter oil,(opinions)
They also say Ratio 66:1 but on the bottle it says upto 50:1
Just getting back into trials from a long time at enduro,
I used power 1 racing for enduro, is this oil OTT for trials
I'd overlooked the T Ride - I'm looking for something to do LDT's on, so far considered the Beta Alp 4.0, Kawasaki KLX250, CCM SR-40 and sticking lights on my '75 Ossa MAR...
I'd prefer a triasl style machine to the an enduro type, though there's not much choice out there.
That is the problem, theres not much to choose from, i had a very late Honda CRM which had lots of nice bits and did all things perfect, then out came the CRF 250 X ,so i got one of these only after selling the CRM to find that it was no way as muilty tasking as the CRM . gutted as the CRM was now gone, so now thats why i am keen to check out the T ride. Not sure how much better than my pamp it will be !!!!
We have hade them for about 18 months now & they are very good trail machines. They are NOT enduro machines, neither are their trials machines they are a genuine half way point.
As a trail bike I think there is little to beat them in terms of ease of ride, reliability & weight. They can cope with almost everything we have ever thrown at them & that includes six week trips off road in the Pyrenees.
I have used mine in a couple of the ACU Trail Bike rounds & found the TRide to be great. Is it as good a some of the
Hi, I have just bought a sherpa to re-live my youth after last owning one as a schoolboy in 1976. (funny thing age and nostalgia) Anyway it occured to me that we now only buy unleaded fuel and wondered if the different octane rating affects the engine or is an additive needed? I have read with interest the items related to fuel/oil ratio but would appreciate any advice on this subject.
Cheers
One other reason for useing a high octane fuel in a 2 stroke is when you add the oil to the fuel, the octane is reduced
Those fragments you discribe in your oil will be the case/hardening on one of the bearings flakeing off, you can talk about it for ever but without a strip down it is all guesswork and if you keep running it, the damage will only increase,
strip it down and wash and dry all parts so they can be inspected, replace all the bearings even if they look ok , because you will not know how long they will last, if 1 bearing has failed i bet the others wont be long before they do. Allso check the surfaces of the gears for flakeing, (it may have had water or poor oil in the transmission at some time)
Do the job once , fill with good quality oil and go and enjoy
I have a pamp and i use it for trail riding,LDT, and 3 stage trials , and of course getting a MOT when due, and i run a pirelli MT43 on the rear (4.00 x18 )
and a (MICHELIN ENDURO COMP 3 90/90 X 21
I have tried many others and i find these are very good all round, The reason i use a enduro tyre on the front is because i have many less front end wipe outs,
I went to the dirtbike show on saturday with a mate as we wanted to have a look at the latest trials bikes on offer,
The new sherco 290 was on the MRS stand,The new 250 pro was on the gas gas stand,There was a beta 250 2 stroke on the lazer helmet stand and i think 2 more gas gas sitting on other stands. Did any one see any more trials bike or was it just a very poor turn out , I have been to the show for 10 years and i think this was the last.
What a shame because it would be nice to have seen all the bikes under one roof.
isn't it optimum for the clutch to be running in very thin oil
I can't imagine the clutch working with oil like that !
He's saying that the oil is very thin and the clutch feels the best it ever has with this oil, but what i am thinking is what hydrualic system has bearing/gears
I've been to look at a 08 4rt thats for sale, the bike is in very good condition and appears to be very genuine,
But here comes the possible deal breaker,
When i asked what oil had been used in the G-Box knowing how sensitive the clutches are, the reply was hydraulic oil (not as in brake fluid) but the type that would be used in rams,
So i am thinking how good would this be for the bearings and gears, would any long term damage have been done that is not showing up YET as the bike is only 2 years old.
Has any one heard of this type of oil being used . or should i just walk away.
