  1. Having ridden The SSDT, The Scott and the Ilkley Grand National several times over the last 4 decades, (yeah I know an old git like me should know better)I can wholeheartedly recommend all three as fantastic experiences. IGN is run in March & you can do the clubman course which is same sections but only two laps. (I'll be riding so you won't come last). Try it before you get any older. Your life will be richer for the experience and you'll know if the other two are within your grasp.

  2. I'd been thinking of fitting a case saver on the old bike ever since I got it but didn't get round to it until..you guessed it ..........chain snapped... trashed casing followed by a dent in me wallet. Swapped it onto the new bike and only last week chain popped off result no damage to bike or wallet.

    Good advice sir.

  3. Swapped my well used 06 in for an ex ssdt 09 with Sandifords before they had "issues". They are different. The 09 steers better the engine is smoother and the clutch has much better feel and lighter.

Considered a Gasser at the time but glad I choose the 4RT its more reliable which in my book means more fun. I think if you ride one you'll want one!

  4. Just add my two peneth'

Rode the Ilkley Grand National time and observation trial on saturday. Took bike off trailer filled with petrol, thrashed it as hard as possible for two hours non stop. Finished trial put bike back on trailer had cup of tea and bar of chocolate. watched several other folk limp back in with broken bikes (non of which were 4RTs). went home washed bike had tea and went out for half a gallon of beer.

Thats what I call a perfect day. Will spend an hour or so prepping for this weekends national and then repeat same procedure.

Please note I won't be asking for any technical information on TC because there's nowt to fix but chains and tyres.

So.... there is a lorra lorra luv right here for my 4RT!

  5. Rode both trials this weekend, both brilliant with no queuing to worry about.

Regarding Mick Wren's original comment, I talked to one guy who was visiting from "down south". He had never been to the area before and came up with his mates in the van. Surely if the club can accomodate it where's the harm. Bloke had some fun, club got some cash.... win win.

(On the ACU std. regs there is a class for non championship.)

Has anybody seen sundays results yet?
