  1. Yeah up in yorkshire though. Taken it up to Brittania Cooling up in Morley, they seem pretty switched on, I'll .have to watch this space on the price but no doubt it'll be cheaper than a new one. Prices are on parts are a nightmare at the minute.
  2. Ta mate. I take it you can patch them up then if the leaks in the right place?
  3. I've developed a minor leak in the radiator on my Rev3 250CC it trickles coolant which I keep topped up but when the engineis running the evaporation becomes quite heavy. Can radiators be patched up by a trials shop or am I gonna have to fork out for a new one? If it is a new radiator are they easy to fit? Regards, Danny
  4. Fitted BP5ES plug, drained the fuel and put a mixture of 70:1 of super unleaded and castrol 2t. Its starting up much quicker now. I haven't take it for a proper run yet but I'm confident. I'm still getting clean smoke on start up which looking at the advice is residual oil from the last fuel up of the wrong ratio. Still find it weird to go against the manual in terms of which spark plug they recommend but I aint gonna argue with results. Many thanks for all the advice.
  5. Mines a 2002 Rev3. The manual does say to use the BP7ES. I'll give a fresh BP5ES a try though nice one!
  6. The Iridium plug was a NGK BP7ES and I'm now back on the Champion NY7CC. When I bought the bike it came with an NGK BP5ES fitted and there was hardly any carbon build up on it when changed it for the iridium. I was mixing the fuel at 50:1 on the advice of my local trial shop even though the manual says mix at 1.5%. My mistake I've fitted the recommended plug and will mix the fuel at 70:1 and give that a try. On a side note I have noticed there is more smoke coming from the exhaust even though I have cleaned the pipe and repacked it recently. Is this just any excess oil in the system burning off? And will pushing the correct fuel mixture through the system eventually correct this?
  7. I've recently noticed my 2002 Rev 3 takes more than the usual one or two kicks to get it started. I haven't changed anything on my bike recently except the spark plug. When I checked the plug it was heavily black with carbon deposit. When I felt it, it was viscous like oil. I have changed the spark plug and its now starting fine. It was an Iridium plug rather than the usual Copper core. I am now back on the Copper cores I am now wondering what has caused this though as I had only done 3 hours riding to get that amount of black on the plug, am I mixing the pre-mix too heavy, using the wrong spark plug grade or is there a bigger problem lurking around the corner? Any advice would be appreciated.
  8. Ive just bought a replacement gear lever and was wondering how easy they are to change? Is it a case of taking off the crank case cover or do i need to drain the oil and start fiddling with the clutch and gears? Clueless! Any help would b appreciated!

    Gasgas 200

I'm thinking of moving from my 2002 Beta Rev3 250cc to a 2004 GasGas 200.. Just wondered if anyone had any ideas as to whether this is a good move if the bikes are comparible in power handling etc?? Thanks in advance
  10. Dan, Thanks for taking the time to reply mate I'll give it a whirl!!
  11. I'll apologise from the outset for my ignorance, I'm not the most mechanically minded person but am willing to give anything try. I want to clean my carb on my 2002 REV3 250 but am clueless. 1) Do I need to drain the fuel before taking the carb out or is the fact tat the fuel tap is off enough? 2) Will anything leak once I have taken the carb out? 3) Can the carb be cleaned in its entirety or does it then have to be broken down further? 4) Will spraying the carb with carb cleaner and then running it through with compressed air be enough? Sorry for all the questions but I don't want to mess it up, pictures or an idiots guide would be useful.... 'Cos I'm a mechanical idiot! Many thanks in advance.

    Oil Leak!

Hi, Does anyone know where I can get hold of replacement gear oil porthole for a Beta REV3 250 (2002). Some how I've managed to knock it which seems to have irrepairably damaged the seal and now there is a constant flow of gear oil coming from it despite my attempts to push/screw/hammer it bank in place. My current one doesn't appear to be threaded but more of a plug which makes me think its fixed with adhesive? Any help would be appreciated! Many thanks.
  14. Its weird you mention that cos I started up my 250 yest after a week of very cold weather and mine was popping rather than ticking over...
