  1. Interested reading the " Sections shouldn t be ridden before the trial " I have set out sections in all levels of trialing in the UK and adhere to that rule. Here in France since I have started again to help the local club set out our annual trial, I had more than a raised eyebrow when I saw how it works here.

The sections are set out well in advance and the our club members are allowed to practice the actual section prior to the trial. Obviously the day of the trial the sections are well worn in for the entrants, but more of second nature to the club members who hardly have to walk it as they know it so well. I have watched as the experts break down the sections into parts and when they can do all the indivdual hazards they ride the section in its entireraty.

When I raised the matter, with the " main man " I was politely told this is how it works and all the other clubs do it so............

There you go, what can you say.....

I understand that a lot of clubs need this 'help' setting out the course for the trial. But riding the sections is clearly gaining an unfair advantage and becomes second nature and they hardly have to walk it as you say. Surely this should be classed as 'cheating' ??

  2. Simple one for me to be fair. You had the chance to practise then entered the trial proper. It was a just for fun trial that didn't count (aren't they all)? Anyway I would have expected you to have not handed a card in at all or taken fives in all sections. Surely each section started and finished in the same place and had combined parts with A route splitting off at some point. That means you rode at least part of each section twice per lap. This is a five everytime in my book. I personally wouldn't have handed a card in at all if I'd done this. That way no one would complain and you'd have had all the fun you needed.

As for someone putting in a complaint. That up to them. I may have commented to the organisers but lifes to short to complain and it spoils your fun mixing with the same rider at the future events.

As an admin on here like Slapshot I don't think this should be deleted. Its a good lesson to others who are new to the sport. Maybe your should both join an ACU club where the rules are clear and clubs are friendly.

Thanks guys, i agree with everything you are saying here Bigfoot and if i had known at the time that i would have 5'd every section for doing both routes then i wouldn't have bothered handing a card in.

As for joining an ACU club that is already in motion for myself and 2 other guys that i ride with.

I appreciate almost everyones comments and suggestions !!!!!!

  3. Monkey, when you drive down there to pick it up, be carefull you take the correct route down mate

Is there more than one route down south ??

2010 GasGas txt 280. Seems cheap and low use, and it is south of the border. Seller says he's giving up trials but he's only just bought it. Never bought a bike before that's not been road registered and easily checked !!

  4. I'm thinking about buying a 2010 280 txt pro, although it has had very little use, is there any known faults with the 280 pro and if so what are the most common things to look for on them.

I have a 2008 scorpa 250 just now and had a 315r for a short time before that. Will there be a big difference going from the Scorpa to the gasgas ?????

  5. If i was to travel down south for a nearly new trials bike that is not road registered, is there any way of checking if it's stolen on-line or would you have to take the frame/engine number and contact the police to see if it had been reported as stolen before i part with some hard earned.

Normally i have a bike courier i use to pick bikes up and deliver them but they are road registered and are easy to do HPI check on etc.

    Cheers

  6. They're a bit more expensive but like they're well made so I'll give 'em a try. Thanks for that mate.

Have you tried the risers yet jes ??

I've ordered a set but was wondering if you have noticed much difference ?

  7. If he gave abuse too a fellow rider on the day then he should be diaplined

No abuse was given to anyone on the day !

The abuse was directed at myself on the day and on the east coast forum for several days before the topic was deleted.

There is no abuse in this thread, merely asking experienced trials riders there thoughts and opinions on this subject with all points of view being taken on board.

  8. I use my middle finger for front brake and index finger for clutch. standard levers (i think) on 08 Scorpa with the clamps run down the bars a bit to make more leverage and lighter action.

Do most of you run with one finger covering the front brake and clutch at all times or just reach for it when you need it ?

  9. Yes i understand after speaking to a club official that re-entering any section is a 5. In which case i would have had around 45 - 50 points after the first lap. I suppose i got off lightly with 5

The club is AMCA affiliated not ACU and it was an un observed trial.

Can't understand why certain individuals would want to ban me over this ............

  10. Why are you continuing to keep this going ?

Are you intent to trying to cause trouble on this forum also ?

You are now onto your fourth forum keeping this going, so much for someone who states that it had been resolved with one of the committee.

    Intent on causing trouble ??

You sent a PM on the east coast forum saying that my post was embarrising and that you bet i am ****ting it incase i get banned from the club !!

    WTF

THE DBF is one of the people who seemed to have a big problem with me cleaning the 'B' route. I can't see why because for someone who regularly scores 15 - 20 points he only scored 2 on the day in question, giving some insight into how 'easy' the sections were.

  11. 2 weeks ago my local club held a 'trials training day'.

Broken down this consisted of 1.5 hours of practising on 8 sections that had been set out, then 3 laps of these 8 sections with a score card.

Bearing in mind this 'training day' had no effect on any club championship points in either the 'A' or 'B' route.

I ride whenever i can but am new to the sport of trials in only the last year and so i enter the 'B' route. I work away from home from 4 - 6 weeks at a time and so this day was only the second time on my bike in 8 weeks due to work and holiday commitments.

Myself and A.N other set off in the morning and rode both the 'A' and 'B' routes in the hour and a half practice session. We were first to return to the last section and i asked if we could start as the rest of the riders had not finished training/practicing.

We set off with our punches and cards and rode/cleared the first section. The second section there was still no one behind us so i rode/cleared the 'B' route whilst A.N. other dabbed and picked up a point. We then also rode the 'A' route and cleared it.

We came to the third section where i entered the 'A' route first, got mixed up after the third flag and stopped and left the section. I then re-entered the section on the 'B' route that i was down as riding, rode and cleared it. At this point A.N. other pointed out that i had 5'd the 'A' route and so should mark my card with a 5. I pointed out that i was 'officially' riding the 'B' route on this training day and we then separated and i continued to ride the first lap on my own doing both routes until my second lap where i caught up with other riders and only participated in the 'B' route so as not to disturb the flow of the other riders.

The 'B' route was very easy even for me, which i went on to 'clean' on all 3 laps in accordance with it being a 'training day' and easy sections, which also had a 3rd white route for the youngsters.

After the event A.N. other went to the officials and claimed i had 5'd the section and i was therefore given a 5 on the results. The result didn't matter to me in the slightest as there was no glory/club points/prizes involved.

What do you all think to the conduct of this individual and the manner in which he went running to the officials ??

Personally it makes me sick to think that a so called friend would act in such a way, making such a light hearted day out for all involved turn into a total farce.

    Your thoughts are appreciated.

  12. At such an early stage you need to be riding with others and as much as you can if riding in a trial or practising anyway. Others will soon point you in the right direction and help you iron out any faults.

Been trying to get him out with us at our local practice grounds where theres downhill MTB tracks, rocky climbs, uphill river runs, off camber climbs, rock faces etc

    I think he's scared
