    2011 EVO AM I JINXED

As Mobbster said in his post my fender broke (black colour) yesterday and I didn't even fall off the bike , only caught it with my boot as I jumped off at the top of a bank. Broke a new white fender while riding in the snow and that shattered into lots of pieces from a very gentle fall onto the bikes side whilst riding on a slope ,this I put down to the cold weather but now I'm not sure as they do seem really fragile. Previous fender was on the bike for approx 1 year and had been bent into all shapes without any problems . Cheers Chris
  3. Hi Guys Quick update on the Gas Gas 300 raga I bought the slow action throttle and new tyre (IRC)which made a big difference and was getting on ok untill I rode a 2010 Beta which was just so easier to ride at my level of competance,So the Gasser has gone and a Beta 2010 290 has replaced it and it is so much more linear with the power which makes it much easier.Anyway as quite of you suggested it was better to change the bike than spend even more on the gasser which was great fun to play on but to much in a trial situation.Cheers Chris
  4. Ok quick update went out today at shatterford with the new tyre and slow throttle and it was like a different bike, much more grip with the IRC tyre and I found I could ride alot slower because I didn't have to attack everything at warp factor 8 and instead I could just potter around with the back gripping. I have still got to be careful with the power in fact probably more so now that the bike grips better , Anyway cheers for the help Chris
  5. Had the new tyre fitted and have put on the slower throttle so will give it a try,I will probably keep the bike a untill the autumn at least as I have spent a fair bit on it already due to needing to have the swing arm powder coated and engine casing,New chain and sprockets and a few other bits as it was pretty tatty when I bought it from BVM,Plus its still good fun to ride and to practice the slow stuff where balance is needed. Then I might start looking at some deals when the 2011 bikes are being launched and when I have got a bit more experience so that I know what I want from a bike and how I like it to feel to suit me. Cheers Chris
  6. Yep and thats the problem, did the steve Saunders course last week as wanted to learn from the start with the correct basics etc and I want to compete in some trials as I think you learn quicker .
  7. Hi Wayne ,yeah we have been practicing there every saturday and its a great place ,much better than driving 2 hours to go to Tommy's in wales on the enduro bikes,We are hoping to enter some comps once we have improved and I have got the grip sorted.Cheers Chris
  8. Cheers for the replies I have ordered a new IRC tyre and slower throttle body and go from there,Ill take some tools and have a play with the suspension while we are out,As for trying other bikes I have done this and the Beta just seems to grip really easy, my mates then go on mine and can't get up the hills that they can on their Betas. It is getting really frustrating and I did almost px against a beta at bvm but I do like the feel of the gasser and how it turns etc, One friend is buying a evo 250 2010 next week so ill try that and that might convince me to change. Cheers Chris
  9. Think Im going to order the new IRC tyre first and try it this weekend ,I agree about the slippy slopes and off cambers being where you can lose a trial and thats why I am trying to sort out the grip now when the bike is only just ticking over,Cheers chris
  10. Cheers Guys,I actually like the power after coming from a ktm 450 and can be better than my mates beta 250's on the big banks,But then on silly little off camber slopes or paths it just won't grip and thats with hardly any power ie slower than walking pace and just ticking over.I have thought about changing the bike to an evo as maybe that will suit me more but I also like the look of the gassers and don't want to buy a gasser 250 and the grip to still be rubbish. AS for any other makes I don't know much about them as whats best,Cheers Chris
  11. Hi , Im a newbie to trials after coming from road and enduro riding and have bought a Gas Gas 300 raga 2007 which needed some work but is great,My problem is that the tyre looks ok (X11) but im getting no grip. At first I thought it was me as my mates on their Betas were going up everything and I was really struggling but then we changed bikes and the Betas had so much more grip and they struggled on mine. So is it just the tyre or suspension or is it a gas gas thing ,I do prefer the how the gasser handles and turns but Im getting a bit frustrated when I can't get up a bank on mine but can on my mates bikes , The only other point is that theirs are 250's but mine spins on tick over so don't think its a power thing. The tyre Im thinking of getting is the IRC as its pretty muddy or woodland up here.Any help would be appreciated thanks Chris
