  1. Thanks for all the replies,my Bantam should be ready in the next couple of weeks.I am looking forward to competing as it will make a change from going round in circles(Road Racing).I live just south of Edinburgh,1 mile from both the A1 and A68 which makes it easy to access the Borders/North East of England. cheers the noo Brian
  2. I was wondering if there are any trials clubs or events held in the Scottish Borders? There seems to be plenty of events elsewhere in the country but few if any in the Borders. cheers the noo Brian
  3. Looking for a wee bit help please.Building a D7 trials bike.Nearly finished it but when out testing it in the field next to the house the bike pulls well from the bottom end but goes off at the top end(looses power/flat).It is fitted with a 22mm Amal concentric carb and the std. pan cake filter(not the one with the strangler).I'm not looking for an instant cure but a wee point in the right direction would be braw i.e. jetting??? cheers the noo Brian P.s. the carb is brand new
  4. Bought the D1 ,will take a wee bit of work. cheers the noo Brian
  5. Got the chance of a D1 competition(been checked by the BSAOC its genuine) for not alot of money.Thinking of building it and trialing it.Am I mad or should I polish it and just look at it,think I'll use it how it was intended. cheers the noo Brian
  6. Nothing to do with gear change (left or Right),but did you know that the Indian V twin of the twenties had the throttle on the left handside so the police could shoot at the crims with thier right hands.Never rode a bike with a right foot gear change but tried racing with a race pattern(1 up/5down) done nothing for my lap times, will have to learn to ride with a right foot change when I get the Bantam finished . cheers the noo Brian
  7. Having never rode a trials bike I wouldn't have a clue.I Road Raced for 11 years. If the bike is crap, thats the way it will be,I won't know any better as I have never rode anything else to compare it.I'm building the bike on a budget(not got pots of gold),I like things to be original(period).I'm wanting to trial for a LAUGH ,something to do in my spare time.I dont take life to serious as its a bit too short and your are a long time dead,so chill oot.Beamish Owners Club fella spot on.Away up the shed for a bit of welding Arc or MIG? that is the question . cheers the noo Brian
  8. Going to use the standard forks for the moment.Got some new parts coming to rebuild them(keeping it real). Its quite funny reading about the use of titanium, overbored Cubs, trick suspension if you want all that why dont you ride a modern bike. Was the same with the Classic Road Racing, everyone to their own . cheer the noo Brian
  9. Hi all, thanks for your responses regarding forks for the Bantam,I will look for some period items.Got plenty to do in the meantime. cheers the noo Brian
  10. Hi there I am new to trials and I'm going to build a bantam to compete with. One of the problems I have encountered is lack of information about the humble bantam. My main problem is what forks to use,I want to run it in Pre 65's in Scotland(not the 2 day) but would like to know if I could use trail bike forks and yokes(XL,TS) or does it have to be std. or period. cheers Brian
  11. Hi there After 11 years road racing I have decided a change in direction(mainly due to the cost of racing
