hi all can some one addvice me. i have a 199A ive got a new plastic tank when i put it on it dosant seem to sit right at the back where the seat gose. its not siting behind the air box bolt theres a plastic bit pocking out dont know weather it should be there. its only abit out anybody com across this?
hi mate nice one i do have a manual And parts book. am sure ill be ok but just needed abit of reasuring at least the engin is in bits makes it easyer to build. ill have to clean the to half cases And spray them before starting what about the big end i dont think it needs changin. but id sonner get it done is this a big job or would i be beter off taking it to the place i use to get the rebore done?
hi all i have a spare 199A engain in bits its all there. ive never done a engin rebuild before ive done some seals And clutch rebuild. what i want to know is is it easy enough to do a total rebuild? i think i could do it if i take my time ive got all the bits. the last owner has tie wraped the gears in its corect way id want to change all the bearings. in the crank cases dont know about the big end bearing. but before i get started ill have to prep the to half cases they need cleaning And paint needs to come off. am gonner do it myself keep the cost down but probely have to have the barral And head vapor blasted. also would i have to make some kind of mount to sit the engin on why i work on it?
cheers pal ive done it hopfully this new gasket should stop oil geting in the gear box. also fingers crossed should stop the gear oil prewing out the end drive. ive tryed evrrything else. then once thats shorted i can sort the power for some reson there dosant seem to be much power. it was ok before i put it back together am trying a diffrant carb to see if that helps. i put a electrice igntion on from bultaco uk making me think that may be the problem so am thinking going back to points.
hello again guys need your help on refiting the gear selector. ive took it off to change the gasket but not sure how it gose back. ive had alook in the manual it says put the bike in neutral? how do i do this now all the bits are off? once in nueutral it says the selector must be properly timed. witch way dose the pawls have to be???
no this is not red oil whats coming out its clear. but ive drained the gear box And theres red in the gear box oil. ive just been to my bike And had a closer look at. the gear slector area ive noticed inside the well were the slector sits.that theres red clutch oil so this is were its geting throw. like i said before the gasket was really worn probley never been changed in about 32 years. you wouldnt see any red oil in this area if its sealed properly with a gasket And sealant thanks for your help
hi you must miss understand me. the oil is coming from the end of the front sprocket And ive drained the gear oil And its got red in it. so it must be clutch oil geting throw from clutch side. so its filling the gear box up with more oil And causing the leak thats my gess anyway. i only put 500mm of oil in the gear box has this is what i was told to put in when the gear box. is not conpletley dry ive changed all the seals on the clutch side only thing i didnt do was the gasket on the slector. but now ive took it off And the gasket was well worn so i think this is where the red clutch oil is geting throw. cant see it being anything else to be honest. ive also changed the the seal O rings And top hat on the front sprocket And the end shaft seal .
hello guys am still trying to get to the bottom of the oil leak. i have on the final end drive on the front sprocket ive tryed evreything i can think of to stop the leak. theres been oil geting throw from clutch side am thinking this is the cause. of the leak i think the oil thats geting in is the problem. so ive checked the gasket on the slector and it was wafer thin looks like its never been changed. any help would be good
ok thanks for your addvice. am keeping both my bultacos now was gonner sell one but changed my mind so ill have the frame re painted. its not to bad has it is but its in blue i want a change so am gonner have it powder coated white. i know the 199A should be blue but am only changing the frame.
hello i think ive asked this before. am unsure witch rear shocks to buy am on the heavy side i was gonner go for std 340 but unsure? also would Quick action or slow action? i wount be doing anything lick comption trials. only for fun
hello peter yes that is my bult. i know its a shame to let her go but i do have anougther one witch i should be puting back together soon. just waiting for a few bits to come back from the paint shop cheers
hello again yes the bike is sorted know silly me i didnt have the inlet hose on tight enough come to think about it the nose i could hear was air being sucked so i to the carb off and made sure it was on tight put it back on and all good. anougther question for you i cant remeber witch side of the bracket dose the chain tenstioner go? had a look in my maual it shows it gose on the inside of the bracket nearest to the wheel but the spring dosnt sit right on the swing arm?
may be me i dont know but the clutch case was hot so was the magneto may be because its not been run for quit abit? i just dont recall it getting so hot before ill have to go over evrrything i had a new air box on last time witch is on my other bult allso it could just be because it was ticking over high that it got hot?
hi the igntion is eletrice and ajust its self but you can ajust it. the rubber from the carb to the manifold is to big how can i over come this? allso the air box has a crack in it at the back its been fixed once but the crack is still there going back to the igntion would it need reajusting? the intructions that came with the igntion dont mention that you can ajust it.
hi all ive just put my 199A motor back in i tryed a bing carb i have but was havin none so i tryed a mukuni i have started up troubel is am havin problems tryin to set the carb up it ticks over but dosent sound has it should its got an electrice igntion from bult uk it was running ok last time i had it running witch was last year it has a new air filter witch isnt dirty but i sprayed pj air filter oil on it ive never cleaned it since last year but the bike hasnt been used would this have anything to do with the air flow?
