    Just work fine?

hi thanks for your photos ive got the headsteady on it was just awkward getting it on ill post photos when ive finished ive just got me wheels whats the best tape to use for the inner rim?

  2. Not bought one, I have bought two! They are perfect, straight fit, no modifications to fit 199A & 199B frames! Holes lined up perfectly!

Worth the investment, proper alloy and gives much needed protection to those oh-so valuable casings!

hi bj im intrested in the upgrade bash plate from todo trials can you tell me how did you ordder it coz ive tryed and its not happening :wall:

  3. Usually new chains are too long straight out of the box for a standard bike. 11 39 on a Sherpa T sounds pretty standard so I would say yes you will probably have to take some links out to get it to the right length. Sometimes depending on sprocket sizes on Sherpa Ts with standard axle cams you might even need to use a one-and-a-half link to get the length right because they don't give much adjustment.

thaks for your help i have got the one and a half link so if i need it ive got it cheers

  4. ??? => The numbers are printed on the bearings / seals take these numbers

If they got lost, ... this is the specification of the ball bearings for the rear hub: 2x 17x40x12mm

The front hub bearings are: 2x 12x32x10mm, take SKF INA, or whatever you get as an industrial standard.

To the seals, (Simmerringe in German, because they where invited by Mr. Simmer in Germany): 2x 17x32x10mm.

These bearings and oil seals you get nearly everywhere where they sell bearings and oil seals, nothing special.

hi sorry i dont mean the bearing its the brake plate theres a groove that gose all the way round and a ruber seal seats in it thats on the rear breake plate any ideas were id get one from?

  5. Hi,

The cage nuts fit into pre drilled holes in the chassis and are slid in from the side, they stay in place when lifting the rack up and bolting onto it.

I welded some tabs onto the side of the nuts and poked them through from the side.....Very difficult trying to get everything to line up and not have them move when trying to put the bolt in.

The longer bolts will be for bolting the towball flange back on after you attach the rack on. The bolts need to be around 60mm longer than usual.

    Andy.

cheers andy i wont be fitting the towbar myself ill be getting my rack end off jan so ill let you know how i go thanks

  6. hi guys whats the best way to ajust my clutch on my 350 199A i have a work shop manual it says bottom the clutch ajust screw and undo 3/4 and then tjghten the locking nut is that ok? cant do anything yet till i put the wheels on just got sum off ebay so when ive got them on and put the chain on then i can try the clutch hoping its just a littel tinker and not new clutch plats but if i need new plats then she will have them allso dose anyone know were i can get a stronger headsteady ive got new one on from bultaco uk i know sum have a blob off weld in the middel but ive seen a better metherd on a bike on here to bits off tube with flat ends and it looks like it strong just wouldering if anybody knows off a place what makes them? and is an igntion file ok for cleaning the points? just one other thing how do i wire a second condesser under the tank? cheers bondy :bouncy:

  7. It would have originally had 428 chain but sprockets are available for either chain size.

How accurate do you want the fork travel measurement? They should have something like 7" fork travel

hi can you tell me about my chain ive got a sherpa 350T the chain is a new one 520 front sproket 11 tooth rear 39 tooth will i have to take links out or will i be abel to ajust the cams?

  8. Ive had trailers for twenty years and now use a bike rack which is fantastic on me Astra coupe 19cdti, cant tell its on the back unlike a trailer which bounces the car on bumpy roads.

You can only do 50 MPH :wall: on the motorway towing i believe, but 90 MPH :agreed: with a rack

hi do you have to inform your insurance about carrying a bick on the rack i know what there like if they can get out off paying you they will no but there ok ripping us off every year :crying:

  9. I carry a Bultaco 198 Sherpa on a Dave Cooper rack, the big issue is will your vehicle take the weight.

Bike and rack is a 100Kg, will the tow bar nose weight on your vehicle take this.

The rack is great as you can legally drive at the motorway speed limit.

uve made my mind up dave cooper it is we have a peugoet 406 salloon hdi will this be ok? the other question is i know you just need a standard two bolt flange towbar what do i ask my local towbar fitter do some towbars take more weight? thanks for your addvice

  10. hi all im unsure witch to get rack or trailer im going down cornwall next year with my bult would a bike rack be ok all that way or would i be beter off with a trailer? thing is my wife will be driving as i dont not sayin she cant drive ??????? ah ah but im just thinking with a trailer might be abit scary :chairfall:

  11. 106cc is not enough, did you mean 160?

The Bultaco forks take a bit less than other bikes with Betor forks so between 160 and 180cc is a benchmark for starting with. SAE depends on personal preference. Bulto forks aren't exactly the best in the world and even with 180cc (and more...) of SAE30 they can still top out. As you've got SAE10 already, use that and try 160cc to start with and add 10cc at a time if you think they need it. Once you get towards 200cc though they will start locking through too much oil

hi yes i ment 106cc in each leg thats with the sae 10 thats what it says in the work shop manual i got from bultaco uk. is sae a higher spec fork oil is that why i need less im just gessing

  13. Standard for the betor forks is 180 ccm of sae 30! each side of course.

Sprockets, front with 11 teeth is OK = standard, back, yes standard is 39 teeth.

You can get parts for clutch de- and reassambling thru Bultaco UK for example.

hi the oil ive got is sae 10 says in the manual 106ccm in each leg will this be ok? allso how would i wire a second condeser under the tank and whats the best way to clean the points i got a littel igniton file its not dead rough will that be ok? thanks bondy

  14. hi all how mutch oil do i need to put in my sherpa 350 forks ive got castrol 10w fork oil allso whats the best gearing ive got 11 tooth front sproket what should i get for the back? ive been tojd 39 is the standerd would this be ok for geting up hills? im onley just starting to trials so i wont be going up any great big mad hills not till i get use ive just rebuilt my sherpa 199A just wating to get my wheels cant wait to try it got it runing needs tinkering with but cant do mutch till i get the wheeels think the cluts will need setting im praying it wont need a new one but if it dose ill cross that when i get it running by the way is it easey to put new clutch plates on im thinking of getting the barnet ones if i need them would i have to get a clutch holing tool?
  15. The best question you can ask is: What did I do to the bike or motor, in particular what was the last thing you tampered with?

I would look for the obvious things first...check there is a spark first of all, has the bike been sitting for a while?

Don't start tampering with the carb, unless you have eliminated other things first expecially if you haven't touched it during the rebuild.

hi bj i got my bully started today ive put new coil on he fired up affer a few kicks got some wheels off ebay be affter chrimbo befor i get them but im just smilling for now cheers for your help

  16. Only if you want it to be. 50:1 is a ratio. 50 parts fuel to 1 part oil. The unit of measure is whatever you want it to be, provided it is the same on both sides of the equation.

50 gallons of fuel to 1 gallon of oil

50 ounces of fuel to 1 ounce of oil

50 ml of fuel to 1 ml of oil

1 liter of fuel to 0.02 liters (20ml) of oil

There are a number of calculators online, such as this on: http://www.csgnetwork.com/oilfuelcalc.html

The easy way is to get a "Ratio Rite" mixing cup. Just do a Google search.

thanks for your help can you tell me whats the best 2 stroke oil for my sherpa 350 and weres the best place to get it cheers
