  1. Ignore the drilling.

See diagram here: Beta Carb Mod.

Just alter float arms/tangs, that does it.

I have read this and will have a go next week but just so i no how do you alter the tang and tab as i have never took a carb in bits so dont know what i will be looking at. Is it a case of bending or do you have to screw it out for example

    Cheers Adam

  2. check your carb floats don't have any fuel in them, they can crack and let fuel in and then don't float as well

most likely piece of dirt on float valve seat or valve seat has hardened so doesn't seal

fuel overflowing into cylinder would make it a pig to start

    good luck

    Hi Tony

Is there any manual you can buy or video on here showing the mods on the carb or how to take the carb to bits and set it back up

    Cheers Adam

  3. Please refer to pinned topics at the top of this forum for a guide.

Can you point out which thread gives detail on how to fix this as I must be blind but can only find how to do the pipe method no pics showing the other methods

    Cheers Adam

  4. Hi all my carb is leaking fuel out of the overflo and sometimes can be a pig to start, especially in gear and sometimes stalls going down hill but this could be me holding it on the brakes.

    Cheers

  5. Great write up Dan, i have just bought a beta rev 3 and i am going to ride with my mate who has a sherco 290, he also rides a mx bike and the first thing he said about my bike was the clutch and brake levers were to far back, now i relise why and am going to leave them in that postion till i get some skills and confidence.

  6. Hi adam

Use the ATF II in the gear box and change it often - say every 10 trials events - it is cheap enough and works really well in the Beta's.

If you are keen do the clutch modification at the top of the Beta forum.

I used to use fully synthetic 2 stroke oil at 70:1 - Hunt out the Putoline Trials it is good stuff.

    Hi mate

without sounding thick what does this mod fix? as i havent been on my bike yet and i am new to trials bikes

    Adam

  7. Thanks for the quick response chaps, i have been reccomended PJ1 fully synthetic as this is what the local bike shop sells is this any good. Also can anyone reccomend a good quality grafix kit too!

    chers Adam

  8. Cheers for the quick replies, Someone said a tyre had to be e marked? to be road legal and trials tyres are not stamped? i dont know. So if i want to ride some green lanes and more than likely some roads to get there what do i need or should i say what will i get away with/risk

    cheers Adam

  9. Hi all,

Just bought a 2007 250 rev 3 can anyone advise what gear oil to use and what ratio to run the fuel at and is there a easy way to work it out prob a stupid question.

  10. Hi all

I am new to trials riding and i am probably asking a silly question what has been answered hundreds of time before but, i have just bought a 2007 beta 250 road registered so i can drive from my home 2 miles up the road to some local trials area's. I thought if my bike was insured, taxed, and a daytime mot this would be fine. I also have been told that trials tyres are not road legal and i could be issued with 6 points and a further 3 for the wrong sized number plate. I am slightly confused to how you can be issued a mot with none legal road tyres or a correct size number plate, and also dont fancy getting points. Hope someone can shed some light on the topic and sorry if its been asked before. Thanks in advance

  11. I had a ride on my mates sherco 2.9 found it ok to be honest but it was wet and muddy so didn't feel the full potential, also had a ride on a montesa 4RT which i thought was ace loads of traction and low down grunt and quite easy to ride same again it was really wet so i imagine it has monster grip in the dry

  12. Hi all,

just a quick hello, my name is Adam and i come from Burnley lancs, i dont have a bike at the min but i am on the look out for one. i used to have a 98 315 but only for a few weeks, so you could class me as a complete novice. I have quite a bit of experience on road bikes but not trials. I am looking for a bit of advice on which bikes are good/bad and wether to go 2 stroke or 4 stroke. A friend of mine has just bought a sherco 290 which i will be testing out on Fri but by all accounts they are a bit powerful

    cheers Adam
