  1. I'm probably not going to be with a bike until mid March (and then without much practice) but I'm likely to pop up to Lindale tomorrow. I wonder how I'll react to seeing the 'easy' sections? Peter
  2. If no-one replies in welcome I'll have to welcome myself I did a bit today, on a friends Montesa 315R Cota. Had a lot of fun and haven't trials bikes got easier to ride. Can't wait to pick up my Sherco 290 now and to get some practice in. Peter
  3. I'm following this with some interest as I'm hoping to pick up my new, old stock 2010 290 in a couple of weeks. So other than greasing the rear end throughout and changing the pilot jet, any other mods worth doing to a new bike before I'm let loose on it? Peter
  4. Yep I wore it a little around the house last night and it seemed to be very comfortable. It had a tiny blemish in the finish so I got
  5. Just an update to say that I've found a trial helmet that suits my head shape. A Wulfsport Airflo. Reasonably priced too. A size small (which is the right size normally) fits fine. Appleyards of Keithley. Peter
  6. Would something like this help? http://www.wetwritesolutions.com/ Peter quote name='effsweet' timestamp='1297783915' post='262283'] Hi all, I need advice after last Sundays diabolical rain. We use Staceys Observer cards & you probably know how useless they are to write on in biro [or pencil] when they are damp & they are worse when wet. The Results team then has to interpret the card when it's dried out - next day Does anyone have a cost effective foolproof system that you can give to your Observers & know: 1 They can record the Lap, Rider Number & Marks lost easily from start to finish, when they are out for 4 hours in clouds & pouring rain. 2 It must cater for Multilap Trials - 3 or 4 laps of 20 or 15 Sections at most, & more likely 2 or 3 laps of 20 or 15 Sections 2 The Results Team can record the information without 'creative accounting' 3 Ideally it would be a hard backing with a rewriteable waterproof facing already preprinted with a Staceys style headed grid. Pencil is probably the best writing implement for erasing so the 'boards' can be used again & again 4 Punch cards & Punches have been considered & discarded as - it's foolproof but you need twice as many Observers - One Observing, & one punching at the end of the Section. It also slows things down when Riders argue the Observers decision Any ideas greatfully considered - What do the SSDT Organisers do for instance? Keep your feet up & remember to thank those hardy souls who Observe for you they are doing their best! Effsweet
  7. No suggestions I'm afraid but a hello from someone in a very similar position to yourself in another part of the country. Have fun Peter
  8. Thank you for that I'll look out for Shoei to try for fit. The TR3 is a bit pricey. I use an Arai Viper GT for the road, ideal. I don't want to pay huge money for something to bounce a branch off occasionally Peter
  9. The Airoh Rock was too tight across the forehead in the size that otherwise fitted. I usually take a Sm size helmet but the Med Nau Eve was as good as it got. Peter
  10. I need to be careful with the helmet I buy for my road bike as most are too 'round' in shape and give me a blinding headache. I do know of two models that are designed to fit my head shape and they're fine. I tried on a few trials open face helmets today and they all seemed to be very uncomfortable. Does anyone know of a model that suits a narrower 'bonce'? Peter
  11. I'm Peter and I live near Kendal in the Lake District in Cumbria, UK. From the age of 10 until 20 I was a trials 'nut' and I owned an 'ex works' (oh yeah) Tiger Cub followed by an Ossa M.A.R. Due to lack of funds/supportive parents and transport I never really got things off the ground. I'm now in my mid fifties, fairly fit and healthy and I'm wanting to have another go Not got a bike yet but my thoughts are drifting towards a beta 250 Evo 4T. I've been a road rider since I was 16 and presently ride a Honda CB1000R. Peter
