  1. ok, so im not a complete tool... but..... i picked up a new bike the other week, a 2003 model sherco 250, and this weekend is the first chance ive had to take a closer look at it, in preperation to my first ride out on sunday.... i wanted to change the spark plug and have a closer look, so i removed the rear mud guard and the tank.... done the work i wanted and came to replace the tank and rear muddy........ i tried over and over and over again but could not get the tank and the muddy to fit/sit right.... i checked and double checked under the tank for throttle cable obstruction and wires etc... but it just didnt wanna fit ? whats the score ? is there a knack to getting it in right.....? if i sat the rear of the tank in first, when i sent it home, the hole at the top was slightly out and just would not line up with the hole.... it also seemed to sit slighlty proud on the fram in the seat area... but i could see no obstruction at all... ? i managed to get it on and moved on to the rear mud gaurd...i spotted the little lip on the under side of the muddy where it meets the airbox, and yes, i had that sat right, but because the tank probably wasny sat right, the screws at the rear of the muddy just wouldnt line up..... i know this sounds so stupid, i promise you, im not a complete idiout, but i just cant get it back right...?# is there a knack to it ? one other thing, the fuel cap lid ..... thats as stiff as anything... cant get that to go on right either ? never had any probs like this with my old battered gaggas, it just seems the sherco has got all its parts fitting very snuggly indeed ! is it just me, or are shercos like this ? any advice welcome....
  2. yep, i know what it does is of more importance then how it looks, but that doesnt mean i dont care..hahaha when you put it on and think, jesus !! you cant help but think somthing aint right.... my trouble is, the nearest shop is frickin miles away.... and, ill bet if i do the traveling, they'l only have a couple of different lids there anyhoo..... so internet is the best option for choice and price.... but sods law, i always end up paying over the odds with return delivery costs etc, getting sizes right.... oh well..... ill see what the next one's like..... if the post man fetches a rather large box on a pallet truck down the drive ill know its a whopper !
  3. hahah good likeness....hahaah ive sent the lid back in exchange for the x-large.... i just hope its better fitting internally and not a case of it being even bigger externally !....
  4. thank god im not alone in thinking this ! my touble im also having is that because my head measures 60 cm im kinda in between sizes... as i sais...large is 58-60cm x- large is 60-62cm so im not sure which one is gonna be best......add to that i look like a mekon and im starting to think that the next size up might sit better on my swede..? i can hear you already saying, well try them both on..... trouble is the nearest shop is a fair old way away and im not sure they stock the lid i want........... is there any way to test if its to big too small ? it feels fairly snuh and ive got to seriously settle it down on my head to sit my ears and what not right...? my old "yes" lid had cut outs of the padding where your ears go... brill for comfort , brill for hearing too.....in this nau one, my ears are pretty squashed... its hard to tell.... i recieved the large today and as i say,it fits snuggly.....perhaps it doesnt need to be quite so snug....... but perhaps the padding will give enough.... who knows...... oh the joys of internet shoping....
  5. silly question, dont suppose it matters too much really..... but does anyone elses head look huge in a trials helmet ? hahaha ive just bought my first one and my head looks ginormous in it !!! hahahah whats worse is, i ordered large and i really think an xl may be in order.... ? or will the pagging inside shrink down soon enough... its not tight on my head or anything... it just looks wplain old weird !! hahahah large was 58-60 cm xl was 60-62 cm my noggin measures 60 cm..hahahah so not sure which way to go with this one...? by the way the helmet i got was the nau overkill..... and for the record.... my head is a completelty normal size..hahahha...just look like a freak with a trials lid on ! hahaha
  6. ok, ill have a fiddle tonight in the garage....
  7. oh well, mines a 2003 sherco 250.... so that sorts the front shocks out for me ! the rear shock, i can see how to make the adjustment, im just not sure what it wants to be like exactly..? when you say 20mm sag when its stood on its own, where is best for me to observe/take measurements for this ? do you mean 20mm differance between points a +b when bike is on its under tray ( i use a beer crate ! for now anyway) and then when i set it down on the ground...? is that with me stood on the bike or it on its own ? (sorry, i know that aint clear.... if i could type an image of me waving my arms around and talking with my hands im sure id be able to get it across much clearer....hahaha_) also, how much sag should i see from it all when i get onboard.... im a big lad and i dont want the thing bottoming out at all you see..... ? all helps is greatly appreciated....thanks... mat
  8. hi folks.... ive bought myself a bike and im ready to get started... the guy i bought the bike off though was only half my size..hahaha the suspension could do with stiffening up, bot rear and forks... can any one offer advice on how i should go about adjusting everything... what i maen is, is there a method to get it right, as in do i just do it by feel when im on the bike or what? i dont want to get it so stiff it has no travel or the rebound sends me into the far reaches of the solar system.... also, i can see obviously how i alter the rear shock stiffness, but i need a bit detail on stiffening the front forks etc... i know its probably easier done then explained over the internet, but any help is welcome... yhnaks guys mat
  9. will check it out...thanks for the nod...
  10. im trying to get kitted out with some new gear... i dont have a fortune to spend so want to spend wisley... ive looked at alot of online trials retailers but they all seem to have a very small selection of clothing/helmets etc etc.. is there any larger online store i have missed which can offer a decent selction of clothing and helmets at good prices ? i dont think there are any shops near to where i live in runcorn and this is tricky cos i wanat to buy a new helmet....obviously ill need to try it on etc.... are there any shops around my way anyone knows of...or at least a decent shop in the north west with bit of choice, which would be worth travelling too..... any suggestions welcome... thanks

  14. hello folks... my names mattie, and after seven years away from bikes following a pretty horendous bike crash (road bike), im returning to the joys of trials riding...no more road bikes for me, but ive convinced myself and my wife (the boss, hahah) i never really came to much harm on my gasgas, so...despite all my nuts, bolts, screws rods and plates im thinking... why not, after all bikes are a hard habbit to kick.! yes ill have to take things much easier then i used to but these days im a bit older, a bit heavier and i hope, a bit wiser...hahaha i used to have a gas gas 250 fortuna and ride for fun only and now im looking for a second hand bike. im looking forward to getting back into things, joining my local club at frodsham and hoping to meet lots of new friends ! this seems a great site, im hooked !
