How long has he had the bike ? reason i ask is that some owners can be a bit over zealous with oiling the air filter (manual says to use engine oil to do this) and it may be remnants that has dripped from oily filters over a few months ? has the engine oil level dropped a simialr amount ? if not i say give it a good clean out and then clean and oil the filter as per manual and see if any more oil gathers in there. over the next few rides out.

I would guess that water got in there when washing and has mixed with some oil whilst drying off, nothing to worry about unless it happens when not wet.

Today = busted a fork seal snapped a gear lever realised my rear pads were shot put a nice scrape down the side , put a nice scrape down my side but finished the trial Now my day off will be spent fixing the above

Hi there, i had this with my gasser and found that you can put a washer or two, with a small bit of rubber on the first fixing from the tailpipe to the frame, it moves the tailpipe out by about 1" preventing the rubbing altogether, it will eventually rub through the exhaust and start allowing water and crap into it, if you dont do anything with it. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info, it was like that when i bought it, i'll see how it is, if it is un rideable i'll get hold of a 300 barrel and try that.

Hi Guys + Gals I'm all new here so first a big hello from North Wales. Just got back into trials after about 25 years of all work and no play, old bikes include Ossa 350 twin shock and a fantic twin shock. Anyway just got a 2004 Gas Gas 300 Raga, it has been tamed with a 280 barrel but is otherwise stock, i know it's not a beginners bike but trust me i need the power to haul my fat ass up hill's etc , i've trawled the forum here and apologise if it's already been brought up before, does anyone have any maintainance tips for after a ride, how often to change the oil, what type etc etc?, what to check and what to clean and how? What lubes do i need to buy before i ride, ie chain, filter etc etc. Any hints or tips would be appreciated, also if anyone knows of good (legal) practice areas in North Wales then that would be great too. As i say i'm new to all this water cooled stuff and wnat to look after my bike. Thanks in advance
