I've always been interested in these scenarios when it comes to the most skilled sportsmen on the planet...Senna not driving the best car in the field sort of situation.
Some sportsmen spit the dummy out when things don't go their way or the cards are stacked against them.
A different type of pressure for the 'undisputed' world champ.This could be intriguing.
I am also peas poor at this technique, I used to be better (didn't we all)...there was a Ryan Young video on Youtube, which has been removed, which showed him teaching a group to floater turn. The video was amateur footage, nothing to do with his dvds.
To initiate the turn he showed how to suddenly 'stab' the footrest with a loaded boot to force the bike to turn,then keep one arm straight and the other very bent. I can't remember the procedure in correct chronological order though?
I'm in a similar situation with my little brother, he rides trails/enduro but is intrigued by the capability of my 11 year old Sherco. If I could find a 315 at a sensible price he'd be hooked.
I had a 98 Cota it was a battleship of a bike and a great learning tool.

Steve decides he's had enough of the rat-race and sells up to leave the city for a remote Scottish island .
After a short ferry trip he hails a taxi and is introduced to his first local; the cab driver.
Steve admires the scenic landscape whizzing past his window when the taxi makes an unscheduled stop and the annoyed driver points out several small rowing boats in the harbour.

Steve's a little unsettled as the incresingly angered driver wheel spins away and says nothing more until they drive up a steep hill with two idyllic cottages nearby. The irate driver jams on the brakes and states;

definitely well past its sell by date.... would be ok when its dry or rocky but you will struggle in the mud with that, you will be amazed at the difference a new one would make

I had this on my 09 and bought one on ebay with same problem .
File of the offending stop, drill and tap and put an M5 (I think) cap head screw in as a stop. If the cap looks like it is wearing replace with a new one.
I had the same fault and used the same remedy...on my '98 Cota.
That is a very intuitive post and if correct clearly states what many suspect - trial bikes have not actually improved that much for a long long time and most of the improvements are imperceptible at club man level sections.
For 10 years now, I've had a 2005 Sherco, with very few mods; Boysen reeds etc.and I've tried a few newer bikes over the years but there hasn't been anything significantly 'better' to get me spending ( I used to change bikes every 2 years or less).
The 4rt gets my attention because it's a giggle, it's so 'different' and the JotaGas has good suspension but...IMHO there's nothing new under the sun (Is it my age?)

That's scary, I was riding mine the other day and it came to my mind what this bike reminded me of, a 315! I was reluctant to say it because it sounds absurd but there must be something when we have both thought it - and not forgetting the fact that lampkin rode the 315. Coincidence or not?
A wise man once told me there was no such thing as coincidence and I tend to agree!
A modern day 315...lighter, with fuel injection. This could be all the advertising they need.

No Scorpas are French ! Shercos are Spanish, Sherco just happens to Own Scorpa and provide power plants. Scorpa has never built their own engines. They started with Rotax, then went to leftover Yamaha Tyz Crapper engines, and now Sherco engines!!! But at least they can build a good frame obviously!! As Sherco said (hey why cant we do that)
My mistake, I thought someone on TC had proved that Sherco were a French concern? No matter.

Because the Scorpas were making more power !!! With the tank in the proper place and the airbox under the rear fender, using the identical motors the Scorpas were out performing the mighty sherco's. So much for Shercos great ideas all to be found usless by a french bike Ha Ha Ha. Guess they decided the Scorpa was better now that they are using their frame . At least Sherco riders get a choice on color Orange or Blue
