  1. Hi guys,

I pulled my Rev 3 apart a couple of years ago, just getting everything back together and I cant fathom out where the Fan regulator fastens ? Cdi fits on the slider at centre of frame, Coil on top left fan fixing but not sure where the regulator attaches. Thanks in advance.

  2. We used to have a John shirt 250 mono. It was apparently John shirt jnr's. This bike had been sleeved down to approx 183cc we were told, something to do with abiding to youth rules at the time. We did a rebuild on the engine and the piston was matched up with a Yamaha blaster 200 quad bike. Other notable changes were rear shock, front brake, exhaust silencer, one off sprocket guard. I'm sure there were probably more mods as the bike never lacked in power even with the smaller capacity. Will try and upload a picture but it was a long time ago.

  3. I suspect the CDI has gone on my 02 rev 3, but with no way of testing it I don't want to splash the cash until im certain. I purchased a CDI complete with coil and CDI and this is what i' ve received.IMG_4413.jpgThis doesn't look standard equipment to me as its much different to what I have, and have seen for sale elsewhere. I know they had a set up like this on the earlier Techno, and im happy to run with it if I can get it wired up to what I already have. The CDI/ COil does have these symbols which I assume indicates which wire does what.IMG_4434.jpgThis is what I have currently FullSizeRender.jpg

  4. Can anyone tell me something about the TY footpegs. In the picture above you can see what is on it. But I noticed some knurled shaft ends under the engine which I'm told are the original peg mounts. Is that right? And if so, where can I get them? I'd like to get as much original equipment as possible. I do have the original metal tank, with nuts and seeds from a previous squatter. Original fenders will be really hard to find, without a doubt.

I was always under the impression the foot peg mounts under the engine were from the original DT175, of which the TY origins were built from.

  5. Main bearings are relatively common in a bike of that age. We did our 2002 rev a while back, it was 100% reliable but rattled like hell. Confirmed by removing the flywheel casing and you could feel the play in the crank. Fairly simple job for a competent mechanic, having the right tools for the job is a must, and if you've got the new bearings and crank seals you'd have it done in a weekend. I found a link via Google which described the job in detail with pics.

  6. I've checked this again today with my multimeter and its reading 460ohms rather than the 360 states earlier. According to the guidelines on the motoplat site this is a good reading? Think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and purchase a costly cdi ?

  7. 2002 Rev 3 isn't sparking, have checked the red and brown wires from stator which is giving me 360ohms which should be ok from what I've read. Is there any way of checking cdi unit ? Alternatively I've read that different cdi units can be fitted ? The Ducati type fitted to the earlier technos are combined with a coil and are only around £30 on eBay ? Would appreciate any feedback.

  8. Thanks bilks, that gas helped a bit. The stators up to 02 I think was different, a 6 post unit as opposed to 4 and mine has 5 wires coming from it. Ive now doted the fan and stat wiring but still unsure as to where the kill switch wires in. I've read that the black/white wire is the one but this goes into the cdi and doesn't come back out ?

  9. Glad you got it back :)

If I was sure it was my bike I would have gone with a few people and held on to it until the Police had been. If you ring them saying you have had your bike stolen and you have the person and the bike in front of you am sure they would respond. Just don't tell them when it was stolen until they respond and am sure the other guy would want the police if he didn't steal it with a few angry looking blokes at his door.

Any way you can check just a Vin number? register or something?

When mine were taken I advertised them on various sites over the Internet including the vin. If I search the vin on Google it will pop showing all the advert posts and images uploaded.

  10. Just got my bike recovered from the police after being stolen and the wiring amongst other things has had a hard time. I seem to be missing a little bit and other bits have been cut. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated as there is currently no spark. This is what I've got, the fan, thermostat and kill switch have been cut so will need to add wiring in for them once I know where I'm wiringFullSizeRender.jpg to.

  11. I had 3 bikes stolen February 13 and after almost 2 years have managed to recover 1 out of the 3. I won't go into to much detail, but I saw the bike advertised on scumtree, viewed the bike as soon as possible to confirm and then headed to the local nick to report it. The local plod was very disinterested, but I have to credit my local police who have been great, and got the bike back. The chap who had the bike is not believed to be responsible for the theft, but instead had paid hard earned cash to the scumbags which took it. I regularly check auction and sale sites and have key words saved to narrow the results, I identified the bike on the advert from some small features which were not fitted as standard, and to me stood out from the rest before heading over to confirm the vin.

I personally would never buy a bike which doesn't have any paperwork, v5 or proof of ownership and would be wary of anybody selling without, if more people had the same view I'm sure there would be less of a market for stolen bikes. And if you keep looking you may just be lucky enough to find your bike.

  12. I would avoid this bike as its very flimsy. Ive see tanks smashed clutch cases holed n even an engine break in halve. The carb is a nightmare to remove its subframe n exhaust off.

This is why they aren't in production still a poor bike and this one looks dire, glad you're not helping m buy a bike

I disagree, I've had 3 gas gas, a beta, and 2 scorpas. I never felt like the bike was flimsy, yes the carb is a pain to get to, but they are so reliable disturbing the carb isn't something that needs doing often, unlike the beta. They are bulletproof engines which when cared for will give you lots of trouble free fun. Great clubman / novice bike, which can be easily tuned for aggressive or soft approach. Parts can be expensive or hard to come by now so key is to buy a good one, plastics inc fuel tank are expensive, as are engine parts, serviceable bearings, filters, seals, pads etc are cheap.
