  6. thank you again does anyone know the correct size of the crankshaft main bearings as i have to get some before i drop my bike off. 349 montesa cota 1979.
  7. would love a PDF File with the 349 info on it. I used to have a friend that could translate for me but they passed away.
  8. Thank You has anyone anymore info I am particulally interested in the tension for the casing bolts with the rubber seals. also what is the origional sproket ratio. Also type of spark plug. Wiring Diagran for 1979 349 cota also are the statos for 247 and 349 the same i know the cam on the flywheel is different.
  9. you need a fork slider with the two holes one for the brake drum stay and the one behind for thecable holder bracket. i had some made up by an engineering shop out of brass si it doesn't rust.
  10. Hello Folks I have a 1979 349 Montesa Cota that I am going to get the engine rebuilt and as there are no workshop manuals for these can you guys tell me things like piston clearence, cylinder head tensions, casing bolt tensions, and anything else that you know about like Firing position, point gap, well i'll leave it to you guys keep the info coming as I am sure others will use it as well thank you.

  12. It will be a 1979 or 1980 check the numbers at www. southwestmontesa.com
  13. well that might be one of the casing bolts that clamp the centre casing together and these have rubber O-rings for washers to stop oil leaking from the gearbox I imagine you would have to remove the side covers and flywheels, selectors and everything and remove one at a time and replace the rubbers one at a time to save you fron splitting the case. You will have to find out what tension the casing bolts are done up to. get the info and parts from www.Southwestmontesa.com
  14. If they are not riding high enough it may be because there might be springs from a different model in the forks.
  15. Forks getting stuck is usually because as soon as you ride a montesa the forks bend a bit at the lower clamp if you then loosen them off and rotate them 90 degree and tighten them up again they will jamb so when you are fitting forks keep the bend to the front. takes a good eye to spot the bend just run your eye down the sides of the forksand use the tripple clamps like sights if you get what i mean.
  16. I got a one owner now second owner 349 Cota just low on compression and all is origional farm bike.
