I can't make any sense of this multi meter either! It doesn't have ranging! I'm guessing its auto ranging. Either way, it just bleeps to say it has continuity and displays 1 rather than a reading on everything!
-
Thanks for the advice but I'm not comfortable working with it as I'm used to digital and even once zero'd this is too jumpy for me to trust. Will get my digital one back of my mate tonight and have a guy coming over tomorrow to try get it started
-
This is ghetto, I'm getting a digital one sent over. Can't you tell I'm young! Lol
I should have it by 7-8 tonight so will b too dark to work, will crack on tommorow
-
I only have an old non digital multimeter with me.
I am not Daimler with how these work if I'm honest, maybe you can help..
On the black wire the multi meter just flies all the way from where it is in the pic, right across to the opposite side of the multimeter (it does the same when I touch both probes on ground!! Hmmm

No chance the connector just come loose. Checked spark, I have decided its weak! if the gap if anything bigger than round the .5 one of the plugs are set at.. It won't spark!
Come on guys.. What's next?
Earth is good?
-
Red to ignition coil!!! Not connected, I was gettngi a spark but wonder if it had loose connection so was weak!
-
Right guys..
Put fuel in the plug hole, fitted plug and lead.. Kicked over.. Nothing at all!
Removed all the electric boxes so I can check wiring.. The fan live was broken, and I have come across a 2 connectors going anywhere.. Now checking the diagram so hopefully something simple!
-
Sorry guys.. I fell asleep! Haha,
Digging it out now. I'm going to remove carb and kick it over with plug out, once I'm convinced its dry I'm going to put some fuel down plug hole and try get it firing!
-
Hey guys. I, back onshore due to bad weather so I'm spending some time on the bike today!
I'm going to try everything suggested and will hopefully see a result
Many thanks for your help.
Its really appreciated..
Keep tuned...
Once again... Will it run???
-
I will try that, looks like bad weather Wednesday onwards so should have some time off.
Don't suppose you know where they are located? I had a quick look. There is one that goes through a little box and bolts onto body (actually hold the box in place)
-
Thanks alot.
Once I'm back home I will give it a look
All th best.

Forgot to add, stripped and checked reeds. All ok!
I have sprayed brake cleaner in the plug hole and tried kicking over (highly flammable) same as easy start? Doesn't even try to start? S maybe a weak spark? How would I go about this?
The carb was off when I turned it upside down as I have stripped carb again (all ok btw) fuel come out of the spark plug hole and pushed kickstart with hand to get any out. Done plenty of kicks to dry it out with no plug too..
I'm now away for up too 7 days so going to have to think on it.
Wish I could spend more time trying to spray into spark plug hole to see if spark is too weak.
What would be the next thing with a weak spark? Coil pack?
-
Update.. Tipped bike upside down as suggested. Fair bit of fuel come out!
Heated up the plug, put it in...
Nothing!!!
Doesn't even try to fire at all??
I give up now. I like a challenge but this is a joke
-
Haha cheers guys. Will be home soon and trying again! Offshore this weekend so today is my only day to tinker!
Will pull the reed block out and check them out. Knowing my luck the gaskets will crumble and I will be stuffed!
-
Thanks coop, the video was with another plug in so that's the speed it kicks over at.
Will try find an online guide or video to the reed valves later and see what there like!
Think I'm away this weekend so really want her running today!
Fingers crossed

Spent hours again trying to get my "heap" started
-
How do I inspect the reeds? I'm new to bike mechanics so any guidance would be great
-
Has a brand new plug tried 3 plugs. All the same?
-
-
Here is the spark.. Stick it on HD and should see. I'm doubting its strong enough now?
-
May see you down there then. I used to ride there years back and was amazing! I couldn't do much though. Just had massive balls so went at stuff full speed normally resulting in injuries haha
How would I go about checking the feed blocks?
-
Ok, was hoping to be able to reach people outside the GG forum too as I'm totally out of ideas now
-
Will give it a try tomorrow. I can't remember if the fuel tap was left on over the years or not! The floats are nice and free and not filled up so should be working properly.
If any of the earths/connections electrically were a problem it wouldn't spark would it?
Do you ever ride Corton Trials Park?
-
Also forgot too add, it hasn't been run for 6-7 years, carb has been cleaned, jets all clean, fresh fuel, new plug gapped correctly..
