  1. Great advice! Fuel has been drained/tank wiped, fresh fuel with good Castrol 2T oil, carb has been stripped and cleaned (lots of gunk!) I just went to bike shop to see if they had a kick start, I have found one that's close so going to see if that fits! Need to work out fuel tap too as it has no lever. Have to turn it with pliers. I'm unsure which way Is actually off! The other day I screwed it fully in and it still dumped the fuel all over my garden where I stood the tank up!
  2. Thanks guys, the kick start splines has smoothed off after lots of trying to get it started
  3. Cleaned it all down last night stripped this morning.. Lots of gunk! Floats are nice and empty though which is a result. The main jet!! This is why the choke would lift.. It was seized in SOLID! Has to use mole grips to remove! Hopefully the £8 choke switch will have it running again

Looks a very clean bike. Wish my frame was that shiney! Look forward to pics when you pick it up today, please link me too any posts. Would appreciate seeing another
  5. Can anyone tell me what bike it is? I have around this era Gas Gas 250. I believe it too be a Contact 250. Would be a great confidence booster to know this sort of thing can be done on my bike (then I can stop using the old/heavy bike excuse! Great riding as always Jason! All the best, Jamie. Ps; this is my bike for reference..
  6. So it should just pull out then? I know I can put a little force behind it if so. Will get the cleaner in there
  7. Hey guys. Think this is the best suited forum as I beleive any bikes run the Dallorto PHBL 26 carb? My choke flip switch is broke. I have undone the screw.. It pulls about about 5mm, clears the top seal and it won't come out any further? Is there anything else I have to remove to get it out? Number 32 here.. And this is what it looks like once removed.. Many thanks. Jamie
  8. Cheers guys. Carb is now off and ready for tommorow. Tried blowing through fuel pipe.. Nothing happened! Took the pipe off and really blew down it and out flys a bit of gunk! Shows what the rest of the carb is like no doubt! Gunk is on my finger. Have been offered a complete carb from a 2012 txt280 for £40. This sounds ideal as my choke lever is broken and I'm unsure how it works, guess the cam lifts up the needle but even putting on a pair of pliers I can't move it at all.. This is mine.. And this is how it should look (as I said, I think the plastic bit on the back hits the casing which then makes it pull up on needle? Where as mine just pivots and not much else. Many thanks
  9. Hey guys. After 6-7 years I have regained the love for my old GG Contact, got her trailered to my house today so I could see what that time sitting outside had done to it.. Other than surface corrosion it all looks real good so result on that. Popped the plug out, cleaned that. Drained fuel and refilled with fresh fuel and Castrol 2T oil very slightly over 50-1 as I was advised and proceeded to kick her over.. Nothing happened, just made my leg ache! Removed plug and cleaned and dried again (so getting fuel as was wet?) checked for spark and had a nice spark.. I played with choke a little (just the black flip lever) and noticed nothing was happening? I'm not sure how they are supposed to work but at a quick look it seems like the little cam shapedpartmof the plastic lever should pull up the needle as you flip it up? Well mines not moving, just pivots. Does this sound like it won't start due to my carb? Many thanks.. Jamie.. Here is is btw..
  10. She's back! And fits in shed which means its staying! Rust got to the frame which sucks, but will strip and powder coat that at a later date when fairings get repaint.. She won't start though
  11. I'm sure is hydro? Not 100% just grabbing lunch then going to pick her up. Hope it fits in shed or its got to go back
  12. I'm about 95% sure that's what it is.. Although I haven't seen It for years so could be totally wrong. Going to clear out shed at my house (I mean ruthlessly throw away stuff to make room) and go collect it Pics to follow shortly hopefully. Any 2 stroke advice guys?
  13. What 2stroke oil do you reccomend? Will give Gas Gas a call to try get some Info
  14. Great I'm not sure on year. Is there any ay of finding out? There is a 92 model online that looks the same.. So around that?
  15. Cheers Ben! After a glance through the classified.. The first featured bike I see looks the same! I beleive its a GG Contact 250! Will get pics up ASAP
  16. Hey guys, my names Jamie. I'm 22 from Great Yarmouth. Upon recently acquiring a little pitbike (nicknamed the widow maker... Don't ask!) my love for motorcycles has been restored! Years back (I was maybe 15-16?) I used to be heavily into push bike trials (not that good though) and after always asking for a motorbike my parents caved and bought me an old Gas Gas 250. Every weekend I was down my local trials park learning to ride. One day the bike stopped running and has been in the shed since! I'm going to go over to the parents house and dig it back out this weekend and see if I can work out whys up. Hopefully was just something simple but as its been sitting for 6-7 years I should imagine the chances of it being ready to use are slim. As for the bike its self, I have no idea of the model or age. I have looked on eBay, google and not found any bikes similar! Hopefully you guys can help. I will get some pictures tomorrow of her. Hopefully not rusted to bits as it was a very clean bike (apart from my shocking choice of colours on the fairings) lol All the best, Jamie
