  1. I took the exhaust off to aid starting (which helped as it nearly started) I have tried for the last couple of weeks with the exhaust on. It is VERY hard to kick over, i know what you mean, I did make it look easy (must be my iron man legs I have grown!)
  2. What do you guys think? Is that letting too much past the piston?
  3. Welcome mate. Where abouts in Suffolk?
  4. That's the problem. I was the same when I first fell off. Took ages to get back on the bike
  5. Can't get the kickstart sorted, local shop has nothing else that fits. I have found genuine Gas Gas ones online but at around £100 its alot of money! Worst thing is I read on one that its a 16mm shaft, I make mine out to be 13mm? Any ideas?
  6. Best dad in the world, fact haha. Great video
  7. Right, she has run (only for about 2 seconds though) Mate suggested taking off exhaust and it sounded like it was restricting it. First kick we had some massive flames and run of its own back for a few seconds. Looking in at the piston its very oil and greasy in there so going to whip the head of and give it a quick clean up. The kickstart lever has bent now too! Just spent an hour modifying the good base with the good lever so they work together! Need a break now. Never been so tired!
  8. Today is the day! I can sense it! It's popping every kick, (massive flames on some of the kicks from exhaust!) I turned the fuel down as my mate suggested and it tried to start twice!! Now I'm tired so taking a break then going to try again..
  9. Been told to turn the fuel screw in all the way and work it out half turn at a time as the plug is getting soaked after a good few kicks? Nothing to lose! The airmfilter isn't the best, its clean but misshaped. The airbox etc isn't fitted at the moment? If I'm honest, I can't even find where its supposed to go in!
  10. Will give it a try tomorrow (after I bleed the clutch and hope that's all it needs or the bike is getting left for someone to take home) Once again, thanks for you input. It would of been back in the shed ages ago to rot if it wasn't for this forum
  11. There is a massive hill/ramp near me that would get it going easily if it will start but have to push it there and back up if it doesn't start haha
  12. I have neaten end up the wiring. I haven't got the voltage regulator or anything wired up yet, just the very basic stuff needed to produce the spark. I couldn't get the flywheel off so gave up and put it away, only because my mate come over I have got this far haha
  13. I HAVE POPS AND BANGS AND SMOKE OUT THE EXHAUST! Started with a mate, getting an opinion on the spark (weather it's too weak) and in the dark its quite blue and strong! I opened the gap in the plug to see if it jumps it which it did. we decided to put fuel in the cylinder and try kick it over to see if it fired.. Which it did, just one pop and a puff of smoke from the exhaust! We put the carb back on and connected fuel tank.. Again.. Little pops and lots of smoke! no start but still a massive progression. Most I have had as of yet! Where would you guys go from here? I'm pretty happy in the spark being strong enough now after seeing it in the dark. I also noticed it popped when I gave it a little kick rather than full on body weight kick over. Any tricks you can think of?
  14. Cheers! I am going to the Honda dealership I used to work at, the guy there has a few and hoping one will fit. One of the local garages said take the stator down to them and they may have a known good second hand one to match up for next to no cost so that's handy. What's the chances of it being the same as something else though? May be worth a trip over the US just to get it running haha
  15. Spend hours trying all sorts of flywheel removal tricks without puller but no luck no garages local have one either! I'm close to giving up on this bike. Its getting annoying now! Was supposed to be a rebuild restoration, not a 2 week struggle just to get it running
  16. Can't get hold of a flywheel tool today! Anyone know the thread for it?
  17. Hmmm, watched the video again.. I can't find either type of thermostat!! Wonder if this is why the regulator that should go to the stat has a loop wire and goes back on its self!!
  18. Zippy, I have cut all the wiring up in the picture. All tht is needed is e single yellow wire just going to the regulator, I don't understand why there are so many connections of it? This reminds me, on the diagram it says the yellow wire goes into regulator, then a red wire comes out and onto the thermostat. Where is the stat? I can't find any more connections anywhere?
  19. Will make a few calls and get prices tommorow thanks for all your help. I find it a little strange the black and red wires are reading totally out and yet it does still spark. Will see if I can borrow a puller then have it tested and go from there
  20. There is a place near me that does car alternator repairs and starter motor bushes etc so hopefully they will be able to do it. Is there any online guides to removing the flywheel? I looked but no luck
  21. Cheers for that! I have shiney shiney bolts so may be worth looking at!
  22. Thanks guys, this sounds silly but is the flywheel behind the casing on the left? If so, its bone dry behind there. I have removed the nut but can't get the flywheel off. Guessing I need a puller to remove it? Also, the yellow wire it says to check is showing 1 and bleep too! Sounds like a dead stator?
  23. They are very gunky and hard to clean, I have a pin in them trying my best to clean them.
  24. The wiring is all over the place. Its a joke! Someone who hasn't got a clue has messed with it all! Right, this is the multi meter. Only has one option for ohms which its set on.. The black wire just displays 1 and beeps. It should be 35ohms? This is the blue wire to ground which should be 45ohms.. ANd as for the yellow wire.. Look at this mess! It is suppose to go to the regulator but instead has all these joins and open terminals!! From the regulator should be a red wire going to stat but instead has a loop wire back to the original yellow wire?
  25. Hey guys.. I'm rewiring my whole bike as the cables are getting a bit fragile and causing problems now. The current wiring is all over the place, spade terminals everywhere, insulation tape covering twisted wires etc! Am I right in thinking on this diagram, I would be to only wire the bottom half (no lights/fan wiring etc yet?) obviously not run it like it but just to try product a stronger spark? (The reason I'm doing it as it won't start) This is the current mess!! Cheers
