  1. Just fully rebuilt my 315 (nut and bolt), Powder coated frame, swing-arm and other parts, all linkage brgs, and forks rebuilt. Full engine rebuild with new piston, cylinder, clutch etc. Its taken time but am very happy with the results....... Just got to get time off work and get it dirty !!!!!! Cheers, Craig.
  2. Cheers Bud, Its like a new un and running perfect now. At long last !!!!! Craig.
  3. Sorted now, thanks to Geoff and Martin at Sandifords off road, Runs like a new one, after all that carb cleaning and taking it off and on the bike looking for the answer ! Just got to get time to get out on it, as its taken sooo long to sort. Cheers everyone for the advice. Craig.
  4. Well Thanks people for advice, but took it to Sandifords offroad as I could not solve. Geoff has had a look at it in there workshop and found out the engine builder had left out the crank seal !!!!! Im not happy as there was another problem with the build that I sorted out ! and this Guy said he had 21 years of building trials engines ! Am not happy at all with engine builder, but well done to Sandifords Geoff for solving the problem, just waiting for the crank seal to arrive from the engine builder then hopefully get on the thing and give it a go !
  5. No I think its only one as its the later delorto, am going to have one last go at sorting it then will ring Geoff. Ta everyone , Regards, Craig.
  6. Hi all a bit of advice required please. Re 2002 Montesa 315r. PHBL26BS Bought Bike then stripped it straight away as I wanted a good one as getting back into trials after a long time, so done all bearings etc. Just had engine re built ie. new piston, rings, mains, seals and cylinder re-plated. The thing is I cant seem to get it running rite at slow revs, But starts 1st kick, Symtoms are..... 1) Doesnt idle well, 2) Air/Fuel screw doesnt seem to do much, 3)Off choke its not picking up sharply, 4)If you rev it a bit sometimes the revs just go up and up and have to stall it with back brake. Please note.... Throttle cable free and lubed, slide snaps shut and free, slide shows no sign of ware. carb has been stripped cleaned and jets have been cleaned with solvent and compressed air. Needle clip=3rd from top. The jets are main=110, slow=33 Had a look at manual and it says main=110 slow=35 Could this slow jet be causing the problem ? being a smaller number ? If I cant sort its going in to a shop (anyone recomend one in Bolton/Bury area?) as I want to start riding it !!!! Thanks in advance. Craig.
  7. Wow Just looked at the earlier post dates !!! Andy......."Try finding a dog for that money now ?? " How very true now !!!!
  8. Yes Just done mine and waiting to fit on the bike. the fork with the damper in (no spring) is shorter at rest and can be pulled up to the same length as the spring fork. With them on the bike the spring in the other side will pull the rebound fork up. Hope this helps. Craig.
  9. Thanks, Just spoke to a person in the know before I left work and he confirmed what you are saying Guys. Yes you shouldn't be able to push the damper side all the way down completely and then all the way up, as you said Guys "the air trapped inside will act like a spring at the end of the stroke" You are totally correct and you have set my mind at ease. Thanks again. Regards, Craig.
  10. Cheers, Have the right hand fork split from the clamps and on its own on the bench. This is the damping fork and does not have any springs in. So would have thought it should move up and down smoothly with the adjusters wound out (one at the top and one at the bottom of the fork leg) But they wont compress fully as acting like there is a a spring inside the fork leg. Craig.
  11. Thanks for getting back, Just dont know on this one as there is not much I could of done wrong !!!!! But the more I think the more im wondering about the air movement in the forks as it cant be a sealed unit as air has got to get in and out of the system some how, with the compression and extension of the forks when working ! As said any hep would be appreciated as im stumpped on this one ! Cheers, Craig.
  12. Hi, No, With the fork top cap screwed in its still springy, if you undo the cap past the o ring (goes hiss) it works ok up and down . Makes me think, is there a breather in the forks ? As your going from something long to short and surely the air inside the forks has to go somewhere ie, vent out ? Cheers, Craig.
  13. Hi All, Stripped (315R) showa fork down for re-seal RH (damper one) as per manual, filled with correct oil 407cc and bled air out as per manual. But now doesnt seem to be working correctly, i.e. It seems to be springing back when compressed as if hydraulicing ! If I undo the top fork cap you can hear air comming out as if its building up pressure in its action ! Ive stripped and re-built a few times now and cant seem to get it working as it sould ! So am I doing something wrong ? Please if anyone can help on this one it would be very appreciated ! Ps, looked on internet for Showa forks diagram or maintainence, but nothing. Cheers, Craig.
  14. Hi Rich did you find anything regarding the aftermarket silencer ? as after one myself . Or going to re-furb my old one ! Cheers Craig.
