Position number 1 is the same spring pre-charge like original spring clutch support. Check recommended use and mounting instructions included in each products. Stainless steel screws are supplied in each clutch control set. Due its conical profile improves oil flow into the discs. Improving the cooling and reducing the wear. With this clutch control XiuRDi offers a completely new adjusting solution to trial high level riders. Precision and control are its main definitions. Recommended use A.-With new friction plates you can start with position num.1 or 2, depending your preferences. B.-After some working time, pads will be adapted and will be thinner. Then you can choose a higher number, until position num.3.
My clutch is somewhat new and too thick and that is why it's pulling very hard.
This ring seems only to help maintain the clutch feel when a clutch gets worn.
OK I finally bought one of these buggers. I am thinking for easiest clutch (least pre load) pull I want to set it up with the fingers as low as possible (I have a new clutch and it's fat) am I thinking correctly?
Clutch becomes heavier on these if the fibre clutch plates swell, which sometimes happens if ATF is used in the gearbox .You need to remove and measure the thickness of the clutch plate pack which should be 9.85 mm max .You can get thinner steel plates to achieve this Theres info on this on the GasGas forums
I've not used ATF but the clutch has definitely been dragging more lately despite adjusting
the MC to max stroke. Pull seems harder too than when I put it in at the start of the season.
I'm going to try one of these rings to see if it helps, will report back when I've ridden with it.

Mine is also a 2013 Factory with high compression head.
I rode this bike a LOT at least 130 hrs.
When I got it (used) the clutch was adjusted incorrectly and slipping. It had already
eaten a clutch by the time I got it.
Clutch fiber running through the mains is probably not a good thing who knows
if previous owner changed the oil, it looked very bad.
I also went 20 hrs or so between oil changes, looking back I would
have decreased that to 10 or even less.
I also have an hour meter on my bike now to be able to watch
things more closely for maintenance reasons.
