  1. Sorted. There was a seaky sleeve in the old swing arm it took a long reach socket and a vice to drive it out. Now pushed into the new swing arm and all snug again.
  2. Iv got a really tidy (looks unfitted) swing arm for my 305. When fitting tonight I have a problem - the buses are looser on the new swing arm..... Is there a removable press fitted part in there ? Or is it just a different size swing arm hole? Cheers! Tom.
  3. Thanks guys some great intresting info.
  4. Looks good did you do this yourself?
  5. Sounds interesting too, how do you use this? And is it avaliable in a diy kit? Thank you Tom.
  6. That sounds interesting! how is that done? I will live with a bit of a rattle after a good online search it seems to be normal on this engine? After a good soak and wipe out of the bore today with a soft cloth and wd40 the bore has now got no carbon streaks and looks like new! So I don't want to get it replated now but would love to find a D piston. I found a C piston would this be better than the one I have got? Here's a pic of it after a soak in degreaser there's some funny colouring on the skirt after it dried.....
  7. Decision now made! Unless I can find a D size piston to order before friday I'll clean it up and rebuild it with new gaskets. Its not a bad rattle but I'm a bit ott with things sometimes. I'll wait for it to get bad or go wrong and get the full lot done properly! Thank you. Would you lightly polish the piston with ultra fine wet and dry and clean the carbon streaks from the barrel before re assembly? Is there anywhere anyone could reccomend ringing to find a D size piston? Thank you for all for your advice so far!!!
  8. Iv called a fantic parts specialist up and the only pistons he has are A,B and C. Im half tempted to polish the parts up and rebuild it and enjoy it as it is! It runs mint - there's no blow by just a bit of a rattle that I can live with. Maybe do this until something goes wrong and go the full rebuild if anything happens down the line. Unless I can track down a D piston, what you'd you guys reccomend?
  9. Iv had the piston soaking in degreaser overnight and brushed it up. This should be better!.....
  10. The head is stamped 9R D and the piston I think says N9DD then E+arrow. Does this sound right? Thank you Tom.
  11. Hi I had to go to work just after removing the head so I'll get the piston top cleaned up in the morning so I can see the letters and update. If the piston is worn will the rattling about cause much damage to the liner? It's tempt to follow as pschrauber suggests and clean it up, polish and put back together. It runs very nice but the rattle is pretty easy to hear.
  12. I have taken the head off and was greeted by this when I removed it...... http://s1066.photobucket.com/user/tomburras/media/Mobile Uploads/2017-01/20170103_121622_zpsnjddmukw.mp4.html The bore looks good this is it after removal before wiping... There is tiny black lines but I can't feel a single thing anywhere in there and there's abserlutely no lip at the top of the bore either....... Piston.... Looks a bit dull and worn at the bottom and measures 73.65 - 73.75 with a micrometer. Do you recon a clean up and new piston kit will quieten it down? Cheers for replies so far much appriciated!!!

  14. Thank you. I'll whip it off soon and update. I seen a piston kit for sale on bob wrights, would it be worth fitting this to see if it quietens down?
  15. Very interesting picture fantic 240 motor did yours need replating or was a piston kit enough to repair it?
  16. Thank you I will have a look at it and update. Is it a difficult job pulling the head? Iv never done it myself my dad has done my bikes previously.
  17. Thank you. Can I remove the head with the engine in the frame?
  18. Thank you I suspected that. Would you try and fit a piston kit first? Or woils it be likely the kakasil will be worn too? Thank you fantic 240 motor!
  19. Hi guys I'm just after your opinions My fantic 305 runs really nice but it does have a noise from the top end. After speaking to people out and about they say this is noreal for fantic? Iv put a video up of the noise my engine makes...... http://s1066.photobucket.com/user/tomburras/media/Mobile Uploads/2017-01/20170102_120521_zpsqamcpdrb.mp4.html Does this sound normal to you guys? Cheers! Tom.
  20. Sorted! I changed an o ring on one of the jets and a bit of an adjustment on the air screw and it now runs brilliant!
  21. All looks clean I stripped i took them all out and blew them out with carb cleaner. It is a genuine dellorto carb.
  22. Thanks for that, does it all seperate easily?
  23. I'm having some bother with my fantic 305, it will only run with the choke on. With choke off it runs up and down and and soot up the spark plug. Iv stripped and cleaned the carb and took off the reed valve and checked them and all looks good! The manifold lookx good too no ctacks ect. Any ideas what else I could check? Cheers!
  24. Thanks again smokey great info again much appriciate.
