  1. Indeed, looks structurally disastrous.
  2. Yes, I'd say the master cylinder piston has no gap to the lever.
  3. Hi there, lucky you getting started at your age.
  4. Cant really help except to say the tank on my 1976 TY 250 is alloy.Any side view of the tank.
  5. I also have a somewhat cantankerous 2005 Sherco and also broke the kickstart lever! Anyway I found it was much easier to start after retarding the timing.

    Cold starting.

Already cleaned the carb and its highly unlikely I missed dirt in the pilot jet, but anything is possible. Thanks for the suggestion.

    Cold starting.

I bought a 2005 Sherco 250 recently and have done a fair bit of work having scoured anything to do with Sherco. I changed the oil, plug, cleaned the carb, fitted new front pads and front sprocket .Replaced the fork seals and changed the fork oil Retarded the timing . Anyway the bike starts easily when warm, but is cantankerous when cold. Having read this forum thoroughly, I retarded the ignition, and started using the lean the bike on its side trick which sometimes works and sometimes dosent. Yesterday it wouldent start for love or money, until I eventually tried a drop of petrol into the airbox, which worked instantly. Once started I applied the choke and it raised the revs which leads me to believe it is functioning correctly. I am wondering what size the standard choke jet is, maybe a larger one is the answer? I have read that some people suggest drilling it bigger. Any sugestions or thoughts welcome.
  8. Hi everyone, I am a lifelong biker but recent newcomer to trials riding. I haven't done a event yet but been out and watched the local club in action and found a nice crowd.Still practicing at home and starting to get to grips with the techniques especially balance .Hope I am not too late in life to start this hobby in my late 50s. I have been browsing the forum here at TC and found it very useful.Oh yes , I have a 2005 Sherco 250.
