Thanks for your input Feetupfun! hope all's well with you, sir!.. i had someone else put the new tires on that TY250 you helped me so much with a few years back ..but i'm going to do this Honda one myself...just need to get more confident with these things..won't hurt to have some windex/soap at the ready anyway...just waiting on a few parts and i'll report back!

Thanks Guys! really appreciate you. Feeling confident to do it, baby steps ..lol. Just ordered some proper motorbike tire spoons (tusk) as i figured my 2' Harbor Freight irons are best just used as crowbars...
Other than that the ol' tractor is in fine fettle! slowly getting better (at riding and wrenching) and all the mods I've learnt here have been a HUGE help! i know having a road legal trials bike is a huge compromise, but given i ride about as well as a drunken elephant probably doesn't make too much difference at this stage, lol

Q/ so when i drill the hole to install a rim lock is there a 'best' place on the rim..I'm guessing opposite the valve stem?

Thanks Lineaway, appreciate the encouragement to change the tire myself! no, it's not tubeless..has inner tube....i'm thinking though should i drill a hole and add a rim lock? i saw on the FWOJ thread (page 19) brewtus added one....just wondered if it were necessary and a good safer option?

Hello friends, yet another noob question..please forgive my continued ignorance and inexperience! I have looked online prior to posting but just got confused by all the conflicting info out there.
I am going to try to replace the rear tire myself (never done it before) and have a question regarding rim locks. The bike doesn't currently have one and I run at about 10psi and haven't had any problems (it was like this when I got it). Should I put one in now just to be safe- is that the done thing, or is it ok without?
And if so, does the rim lock go in first and then you mount the tire, or do you mount the tire then put in the rim lock? I think I need to drill a hole in the rim too for installation on the reflex, yeah? and it is a 2.15" size - is that correct?
Is there anything else I need to think about when installing a new tire? I was going to try the zip tie method. sorry for so many noob questions! just dont want to mess it all up, lol.Thanks so much in advance for any help or advice. Truly appreciated!

Thank you LSV! appreciate the advice... i have a neighbor up the street who is an old Harley petrol head...an electronics engineer by trade who before retiring used to install the radios and comms for police vehicles. He has said he will help me and take a look. Also i have another problem as the rear tail light blinks when the indicators are on, so there is some of kind of grounding issue going on, be good to get it all sorted - will keep you updated as to the results! all best, johnny

Thanks Lemur! its the rear tail light too - and as i do use it on the road as a daily beater duct tape is not super practical...(but agreed a simple solution!) perhaps some kind of slip on / slip off 'occluding cover' is the way forward. might be easier! appreciate you. hope all's well with you

Hello friends, hoping someone with more knowledge than I could help with a question!...
I have a TLR reflex that I use for trials, however it is fully road legal as I need to ride to my spots.
Is there any way one could install some kind of switch to essentially turn the 'lighting' circuit off but keep the bike running? i was told it runs 2 seperate circuits.... Currently the woods are mid winter bare and the lack of leaf cover makes me quite visible to passers by (cop callers). Thealways on headlight esp can be seen a mile off! just wondering if one could install a 'stealth' option...has anyone done this? Not sure where in the wiring one would put it or if it's even possible?

Hello friends, as you probably gathered by now i don't know much, so forgive me for asking if this is a stupid question!
can i remove the carbon air canister thing that sits in front of the airbox? i fell off quite spectacularly recently (my specialty) and the bike ended up totally upside down. next thing i know ive got oil dripping out the airbox and the air filter is dripping in oil...i drained the tube that comes out the bottom of the crankcase and it was indeed full. im guessing its from the engine via that carbon canister unit? my understanding is that was put there for EPA emissions in the US? i dont think the UK TLRs have it do they? if i remove it i'm assuming i still need some kind of breather from the engine? any advice or pointers appreciated as i fell off again just now (at least im trying to get better, lol!) and id imagine it happened again. just trying to think preemptively as it took a while to clean out the oil from the airbox and filter and im sure its not good for the carb! it doesnt have all the other stuff that the california model has though..im talking about #14 on the chart. thanks so much

Thanks again everyone for help! i always learn so much here. i know putting money into a reflex isn't worth it, but to have a fully road legal trials bike is priceless. esp. as swapping back to a 13 front sprocket at any point gives trail options too.
Bike is running like a charm now - if it helps anyone else....part number Part # 99124-076-0400 IS the correct slow jet - i was indeed given a bum steer by a 'reputable online retailer' who sent the wrong part, hence original post! Also i got the Keyster carb kit KH0047 which had a 100 main jet which indeed helps also.. finally with the 'tab' over the airscrew removed (was super glued on) and set at 2 1/2 turns out and its good as new with no stalling or dying at tickover

9 tooth front sprocket - check / New Betor shocks - check / Direct attach gear shifter - check / down and back pegs - check / new aluminum bash plate - check / battery eliminator - check / voltage regulator - check / fully street legal, registered and insured - check. Thanks u kurtas! it is the original although bike only has 1400 miles....if i cant get it sorted i see i can get the Taiwanese copy off of fecked pretty cheap. Or i might look into the OKO as i swapped one onto the TY250 i had a few years ago and it was a vast improvement....didnt help me ride any better mind you...lol..i still ride like an elephant...
i see on mid atlantic trials site that the OKO swap for the TLR is a wee bit more involved though....

Hi friends, sorry to be a nuisance again but i was hoping to garner some info to help me along...i have tried to do my due diligence to research but the web is so full of thoughts/opinions trying to access the pertinent (correct) info can be challenging. Rather than try and go for what someone said in on page 9 of a 37 page thread from 2007 i shall just try and start again! (i am a Noob)
Q/ i know the reflex's that came stateside were set to run lean and have a #38 pilot jet. i obtained a #40 from what i thought was a 'reliable on line source' only to find out it def looks the wrong one (Part # 99124-076-0400). Rather than 'shove in in' and mess everything up and damage the brass, my judicious nature prevailed and i just stopped. would anyone know a correct part number for a #40 pilot jet for an 86 reflex? maybe that is the one but the threads look a wee bit bigger?
also, am i right in thinking its quite common to have this issue on the TLRs? runs totally fine and tick over is sweet then it just drops revs and stalls after a minute at idle...very frustrating! - is that the pilot circuit taking over from the main?
finally, i see in the manual where it says to 'turn the air screw all the way in then back it out 1 3/4 turns....am i being totally stupid as it looks like 1 turn is all i can get with the stopper/ tab thing in the way? is this the limiter tab that needs to be removed to adjust properly?
oh and super lastly, pic of plug - does it looks ok?..maybe .is it too rich?

And yes! i see..yours isnt the 'reflex US tracto'r but the UK model..my bad, apologies! but i believe (if i can be bothered) upgrading the wheels to aluminum rims can help lighten the bike....i'm looking and learning about how to lace wheels...never done it but could be fun! very best to you and thanks again, sir!

thanks lineaway, i got that it's not a trials tire. however, is it the best of the worst(?) for a plated honda tractor thats nearly 40 years old? im just looking for a DOT tyre for someone with the trials ability of a three toed sloth to play around with in the woods... but not freak me out when corning on tarmac at 30mph...
just looking for something i can get currently in NY.... The Mitas tire 'feet up fun' suggested seems unobtainable here or out of stock for ever..even called the dealers listed on their website who said they dont sell them. classic. Did have MT43 on a TY250 which were good on the street in manhattan, but not so in industrial urban sections.. upstate now...mostly hilly woodland riding now..tons of roots, mud, rocks etc... i only do this so i can be a safer, better road rider on my triumph i know a DOT trials tire is an oxymoron... i get it.. everything is a compromise.... would the IRC T1 be a better shoe? its DOT...i know the T11 is the 'trials' tyre but i must needs keep the boys in blue happy to play safely and responsibly. btw, i'm guessing you are 'lineaway' of epic OJ / brewtus posts on adv rider moons ago?- fun reading fun with outright junk. thanks again for input

Anyone got any intel on the Motoz mountain hybrid? says its a DOT trials tyre...good for lower PSI... at least its available and ready to ship and can run a tube... i'm presuming its in inches as i dont see a 4.00x18...what is the size i need please and very very thank you!

only real options i got here in my price range....
from their w/sites
Betors 400mm @ 40 or 50 lb / NJB 385mm @45 or 60lb spring... from speed n sport.
or Ozo's at either 390 mm or 400mm from Lewis sport. it doesn't allow me to select weight rather input rider stats... (i presume this is fully clothed and booted?).
(currently 155lbs, plus another 15-20? for accoutrements)
i'll stick with just widening the pegs for now and might get that lowering kit from fecked...

hello all, (jeepers you must be thinking!! this new guy?? wtf) so sorry. BUt i do know time spent on reconnaissance is seldom wasted.
Q/ it would appear my 11 tooth sprocket is catching the chain on the case despite my nitrile o ring shimming it out 3mm..i guess its compressing so im assuming the fastening plate with tabs ground off will work as a correct spacer behind with a new one to fasten? i see this is what is advertised with the 9 tooth but just wanna check with the pros!
should i not even bother with the 11 and just get the 9? Thanks SO much....you're the best

Thank you so much for input B40rt! before i get to spring weight ....im not sure if i need 390 or 400mm? seems both work, is one better? - not that it would really make any difference to my terrible riding!...although the wife said i 'looked cool' so i im sure with new springs i might be allowed back in the house so its a very important decision..
currently has maxxis trial master tires which have the knobby bits almost falling off, prevous owner swapped the originals i believe for old ones off his beta or ktm or something... i think this is more of a trail tire too.. im just looking for a good all round DOT tire that will be good for pretending to do trials in the woods - think clubman class, C lines etc...nothing impressive...but handle 35mph on the road for 25% to get to spots...The previous suggestion of a Matis tire seems hard to locate here... would the IRC T1 be an ok cheap choice? i see the T11 is the better one but the T1 is DOT...
And, having puttered around the yard yesterday (trying to get the back brake to create even the illusion it works) i can confirm the reflex is indeed quieter than the mower. Wish i could say the same about the missus! lol..
