Combo 2013 model ??
Is 13 the newer shape? I've got a 2006 and 1 fits corner to corner with out a bulkhead. I'm not sure another would fit in with it. It certainly wouldn't be easy

Gearbox oil
rode today for a good few hours after changing the oil. no cold stick at all and now since the change smoother gear changes and easier to find neutral.

Gearbox oil
I spoke to beta UK they said 500ml on a change and either putoline light or gp10 will be fine. They use both apparently

chain lube - sandy conditions
can gt85 be used instead of wd40? ive been using putoline dx11 and the stuffs awful. makes a sticky mess on the swingarm and attracts loads of dirt.

Gearbox oil
On a 16 evo 300 the manual says 550ml of oil. Is this after a full strip down and dry or for regular changes? And I've bought putoline light gearbox oil will this be ok. Cheers

evo 250 or 300
Noticed aswell my balance is alot better still than I thought it would be. Can stand stationary for a minute plus. And full lock turns both ways from 1st to 3rd without a problem. Can't wait for my shoulder to be better and get on some rocks etc

Had a few hours today and absolutely love the bike. Was practising right turns round trees on various gradients. Some short steep muddy bankings with roots. And long steep winding climbs. How do you normally block the airbox off when you wash the bike? For motocross bikes we used to get plastic covers to fasten in place but not seen any for the beta.

was thinking that mate. even with 6 turns of preload the original spring it bottomed out with just a slight bounce. I fetched the 20% heavier spring from splatshop this morning and it feels so much better. hoping to get out on it tomorrow now that's done.

cheers mate ill take it to the max preload 6 turns and just ride it for now. ive done the forks tonight with full preload I have an inch and a quarter of sag so should be fine. I'm going to go out for a ride tomorrow locally just having a plod and do some balancing etc. cant do much yet as my shoulder isn't back upto scratch.

Lol cheers mate it is indeed like new. One old chap and still on original grips like new etc. Bar ends are fitted and I've been reading about suspension set up today. Test riding yesterday it was very very soft just riding in the car park. I've wound the rear preload up 3 turns as per the manual but I have a feeling i may need a stronger spring. I had 105mm of sag in riding position and after the 3 turns it was at 90mm. Which I think is still too much. 1/3 of the travel is 60mm. Should I add a few more turns preload or get the stronger spring? There's still alot of thread left to go on the shock. I haven't altered the forks yet.

Fetched the bike today and all my kit. Very impressed she's lovely. One problem though I bought some s5 bar ends and they're slightly too big for the beta bars. Are thinner diameter ends available or do you usually modify them to fit?

evo 250 or 300
I'm around 225lbs when lean at the minute. I haven't rode trials for years but just come from racing mountain bikes. and due to injury cant carry on. ive still got very good balance and throttle control etc so don't think either will be a problem. got a a few of each lined up to pick the best when hopefully in the next few days I'm ready to get one.

05 combo van question
I haven't bought a bike yet but will be going for one soon. I'm planning on putting one inside and one on a dave cooper rack if my dad gets back into trialling aswell. I have a 05 combo but the back has been lined and the floor eyelets covered over. ive drilled and got the 2 rear ones near the back doors but cant find measurements or pictures to show a better location for the middle and front ones. If somebody has a combo this shape would you be able to measure the distance from the rear eyelet to the front and middle ones please? Thanks

long break from nottinghamshire
hi all, I used to ride trials from a very young age to when I was 13. mainly rode with Mansfield maun, north debyshire and also ymsa. Went onto motocross for a few years then racing downhill mountain bikes. I had a big crash 5 years ago and smashed one shoulder to bits needing a full reconstruction and 10 weeks ago done the other shoulder now. So 4 operations in the last few weeks and I'm into recovery now and cant risk racing anymore. And we had been talking about starting trials again before the crash so now I cant wait to start again. Will be picking up a 15/16 beta in the next week or so and getting everything ready for when I can start riding again. Seems theres a few new places to ride fairly local now and good to see the old venues still in use. ?I've been lurking on here for a while so thought I better join up as ive already got a question to ask and will no doubt be plenty more.
