  1. Thanks Dan, Wow! What a great description from a Whizard of mechanics. I will try my 2018 Beta Evo when delivered in the coming weeks(1st trial bike) and if I cannot ride it because of the dragging or if it is too annoying, I will need to ask my mechanic friend to help me out achieving that! I will definitely remove two springs as you suggest too make the clutch lighter (ccullins also mentioned that on TT) as my left hand carpel tunnel problems are a damn. Thanks again dan williams!
  2. Does the clutch drag still be a problem for the 2018? What is the best fix? New carbon plates? Clean the glue? Or has the problem been solved by Beta?
  3. I will have the choice between the 2018 Beta Evo 200 or the 2018 Beta Evo Factory 125? Hard choice but my age (close to 70) and my knees injuries (with permanent damage) and my weight 146 pounds in street clothes can be a reference to choose the right one plus the fact it will be a brand new adventure in Trials! In dirt riding, I am a Novice rider who has progressed with +/- 100 hours of riding and able to ride standing up most of the time with my X Trainer. Hard choice for the Trials bike to buy, the 125 Factory is appealing for many good reason and so is the 200. I will never attempt 6' high straight rock climb at 90* in my prognosis anyway...I mostly want it to help me get better when I will ride the Beta X Trainer. I know that I will not see much difference from my Trials practice in riding my X Trainer before a year or so...I also know the learning curve on the Beta Evo 125 or 200 will be slow and with hard work... I am watching Ryan Young videos 4 to 5 times a week (+/- 5 hours minimum per week) and other videos on Trials. Yes it will be hard work and you get back what you put in age considering... So what do you thing is this Old Man best choice considering age and knee condition? 2018 Beta Evo Factory 125 or 2018 Beta Evo 200. Thanks a million again for your help!
  4. What the best way to carry a Beta Evo 200 Trial Bike without damaging the fork seal and making sure the bike doesn't move in the trailer? How far down do you safely take the forks down? Pictures welcome if you can. Thanks a lot for your help.
  5. Although I am quite old and that I could not practice that often on a bicycle, I think that buying a used BMX bicycle with front and rear brakes could get me started (before my first step in Trials next spring) with balance, weight transfer when climbing a 6" to 12" step as a starter and really trying to have a start at weight transfer from front to back or vice versa. The weight transfer and balance combine to throttle handling and clutch slipping and clutch habilities is so important from the info I get from video's and comment's in general. Ryan Young sure puts a picture to it when you watch his videos. It might help until my first Trial season starts next April 2018? What do you think?
  6. My apologies to ONI NOU and Lopez as I have deleted this previous file by accident... I did read your previous replies and appreciate them! Thanks oni nou and Lopez, it helps a lot to have your support and input as I get ready to jump in Trial riding after the snow melts (+/- April) in Quebec, Canada. It is so helpful to have experience riders sharing their knowledge. Really appreciate. I guess my start wiil be #1 Balance, #2 throttle control and clutch control, #3 lots of practice at slow speed, #4 figure 8 and static balance. Then when getting better at these, I will try to go over a low tree...and progress. Quote Edit Options
  7. I have read that the Montesa 260 is a little hard to loft the front wheel (Dirt Rider review) or not as easy as the 300. As I am going with the Beta Evo 200 (if delivered by Beta as intended, not a 100% sure), is the Beta Evo 200 like the Montesa 260 and a little harder to loft the front wheel? Should I think about the 250 four or two strokes or stick with the Evo 200? Being a beginner with damage knees, I still want to be able to loft the front wheel with ease when I get to that phase in my Trial training. Thanks a lot for all your support!
  8. I have a 2018 Beta 200 for me as long as it is delivered to my dealer (not sure...). Most people recommend a 2018 Beta Evo 200 for an old (69)brand new rider with damaged knees to the Trial sport . I also have a great offer for a 2016 "Demo" Montesa 260. The Montesa is +/-$1,000 cheaper. They both come with the seat. Is the Beta 200 a lot easier and more forgiving for my old person than the Montesa 260? Thanks for your help!
  9. Hi! Guy, Sorry that you cannot find any place to ride for Trial. I will be a beginner this year and buying a 2018 Beta Evo 200 and if they don't have it in time, I will buy a 2018 Gas Gas 250 Contact Electric Start. Luckily, there is quite a few place where to ride in the Ottawa region. Best luck to you to find an area where to ride.
  10. Hi! I run my 2016 X Trainer with Nitromousse / Front and Nuetech Tubliss / Rear. What is recommended for the Trial Beta Evo 200 to stay flat free as much as possible. As it will be my first season in Trials, excuse my lack of knowledge in Trials. I also learned that in the Ottawa region, there is only +/- 13 members in the Trial club....Hard to understand how few are trying and staying in Trial riding as there are maybe three to four hundreds members in the dirt bike club??? Is it that Trial is so hard to learn riding. Or the frustration of learning it. Or the perseverance at practicing. Or the need to get together as a group to be stronger and organise as good as we can as a group?? I am sure the Ones in place try very hard to recruit but maybe we need to really give it a hard look. Would inviting a very good Trial rider a couple of time in the season for learning session help? I sure Welcome your input and ideas to help developing Trials riding here. Maybe the Vast areas available for Trail riding doesn't help?? Thanks to all of you again for your help and suppor!
  11. I forgot to ask the main question: I have been told they are very, very hard to start? Will it be a burden just to kick start the bike? My elevation will be roughly from 250' to 900' Please give me your opinions. Thanks in advance.
  12. Hi! I am a 69 years old who will start Trial riding for the first time of his life next spring in QC, Canada. I have 3 years experience as a Novice dirt rider, I try to go slow but sure... I also have bad knees with many surgeries, 3 total and a valgus tear last year. So, I am damage goods... Non the less, I love the sport and I will ride as long as the knees will hold me strong enough on my 2016 Beta X Trainer and my new coming 2018 Beta Evo 200 or Evo 125. The dealer will have both bikes coming in the spring. I had chosen the 200 but like the idea of the 125 also, the dealer doesn't mind which one I choose. Considering my age and condition, what do you suggest?
